My One and Only Chance thread. Need advice. Will Chance Back. Penn ED/HYP/etc

All the schools you listed except the last two are highly selective so even if you’re qualified for them, which for all of them you are, there’s no guarantee you can make them, but I think you’ll at least stand out if your essay and recs go as well as you said. You’ll probably make Northwestern because of legacy.

U of Illinois Champaign and Chicago are both safeties for you, though.

You’re doing REALLY well. Ivies and top 10 schools are a hard call for anyone so don’t have high expectations for those, but regardless, you should be proud of yourself. There’s a difference between having high standards and just being kind of unrealistic about your achievements, so keep that in mind lol.

Your ECs are quite good, I dunno what you’re talking about. As someone said, “not being able to afford activities” is not a huge deal; colleges know many programs require a ton of money and you won’t get any credit for them. ECs where you earn and not buy your place are much more impressive, and you have many of those.

I would advise looking for more safety colleges in addition to UIllinois, just in case. I’m from a highly competitive district so obviously we churn out lots of qualified kids who apply to a ton of top colleges, but every once in a while some really smart student gets waitlisted or turned down at every one. It’s an uncommon occurrence but don’t let it happen to you. Try UWisconsin-Madison for starters; it’s about the same level as UIllinois and still a very good school.

I’d ask you to “chance” me back but you already replied to my thread :P
