Yep I’m going to answer the one asking what environment you feel content in and talk about one of my hobbies as being controversially labelled a sport and how that has given me all the adrenaline of competition mixed with the mental challenge (Chess). Starting my draft tomorrow!

I’m not too familiar with some of these colleges, but I’ll tell you what I think about those I do know:

UPenn Ed: I’m sure you’ll be accepted here.
UChicago EA: Low reach.
Columbia University: Reach
Harvard/Yale/Princeton: High reach (as for everyone)
Northwestern (Legacy): Match.
Cornell: Good chance here, probably about the same as at UPenn.

You’ve got a good list of ECs, and I think the pharmaceutical work you’ve done will be a nice addition to your application.

UPenn Ed: Match (Last year ~25% of ED applicants were accepted. You stand a pretty good chance)
UChicago EA: Reach/Low Reach
Columbia University: Reach
Harvard/Yale/Princeton: Reach
Northwestern (Legacy): Match/High Match
Cornell: High Match/Low Reach
Duke: High Match/Low Reach
Brown: Low Reach
WashU in St. Louis: Match

University of Illinois Champaign: Safety
University of Illinois Chicago: Safety

The only reason I put down reach for HYP, Columbia, and other Ivies is b/c of their selectivity. But you are a competitive candidate for all the universities you listed.

Also, I don’t think your ECs are pathetic at all. Like a previous poster said, building wells in African villages won’t increase your chances at Harvard. Just work hard on the common app and supplements and enjoy senior year! Good luck in the college admissions process.

I think you have a great shot ED! Great work and best of luck!!!

Try to get a sick interview from an alumnus at Upenn and you’ll be set!

All the schools you listed except the last two are highly selective so even if you’re qualified for them, which for all of them you are, there’s no guarantee you can make them, but I think you’ll at least stand out if your essay and recs go as well as you said. You’ll probably make Northwestern because of legacy.

U of Illinois Champaign and Chicago are both safeties for you, though.

You’re doing REALLY well. Ivies and top 10 schools are a hard call for anyone so don’t have high expectations for those, but regardless, you should be proud of yourself. There’s a difference between having high standards and just being kind of unrealistic about your achievements, so keep that in mind lol.

Your ECs are quite good, I dunno what you’re talking about. As someone said, “not being able to afford activities” is not a huge deal; colleges know many programs require a ton of money and you won’t get any credit for them. ECs where you earn and not buy your place are much more impressive, and you have many of those.

I would advise looking for more safety colleges in addition to UIllinois, just in case. I’m from a highly competitive district so obviously we churn out lots of qualified kids who apply to a ton of top colleges, but every once in a while some really smart student gets waitlisted or turned down at every one. It’s an uncommon occurrence but don’t let it happen to you. Try UWisconsin-Madison for starters; it’s about the same level as UIllinois and still a very good school.

I’d ask you to “chance” me back but you already replied to my thread :P

Most of what I wanted to say has been said, but I’ll say it again.
You’re a very competitive applicant - your grades are awesome, your scores are stellar, being asian is a slight detriment because of all the superachieving Asian applicants but you can afford it. Your ECs are great as well - I don’t know what you’re talking about.
Nothing is for sure, but I think you’ve got as good a chance as anyone at top schools.

I think you could get in on Penn ED. You have a very impressive application. You have great academic stats. And I disagree about poor extracurriculars. A state award in chess is very impressive. The only thing I would say is that you come off as one dimensional because almost all of your ECs are academic based. But I still think you have a great shot!

You definitely have a great chance at Penn. Your stats are very similar to a pair of twins from my school that got into Penn for engineering last year ED.

Thanks a lot for the input guys! I really hope I can get into my dream school :)

Your rank and stats are awesome. The chess team state finalist, pharmacy job, and Quiz Bowl varsity captain will look good, and you’re involved in a lot of academic ECs. For your top choice UPenn ED I’d say you have a great shot, but wouldn’t consider it in the bag. (though when are Ivies ever “in the bag?”)

As for the others -

UChicago EA: Match
Columbia University: Match
Harvard/Yale/Princeton: High Match
Northwestern (Legacy): Safety
Cornell: Safety
Duke: Safety
Brown: Low Match
WashU in St. Louis: Safety

University of Illinois Champaign: Safety
University of Illinois Chicago: Safety

When I say safety I mean that you would be above the level of the majority of applicants there, not that you’ll for sure get in. No one really knows that as it all depends on what applicants with similar stats there are applying for the same spots as you.

As others have said, you couldn’t have done anything more right. My bet is you’ll get in ED, but if not, expect to get in to 3+

if you plan to ED at Penn you’ve got a very very very good chance.

Chance me?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1553580-wondering-what-my-chances-some-reaches-amherst-bates-bowdoin-brown.html

I’m probably repeating others, but…

UPenn Ed: Low Reach, maybe even high match!
UChicago EA: Reach
Columbia University: Low Reach
Harvard/Yale/Princeton: Reach
Northwestern (Legacy): Match/Low Reach
Cornell: Low reach/match
Duke: Low reach/Match
Brown: Low Reach
WashU in St. Louis: Match

I tend to guess conservatively, I think you’ll get in on half your list. Which half? Who knows. Good luck!

Chance back?

Are you applying to the college of arts and Sciences?

yeah your EC’s are not bad at all and your scores definitely qualify you for upenn. good luck!

will you chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1563601-chance-northeastern-nursing.html

Oh wow, you’re like me almost. Im also doing UPenn ED and Uchicago EA. Nice! Yeah, I think you have a good shot.

Chance me: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1530629-chances-getting-into-upenn-ed-2018-a.html ?

UPenn Ed: match
UChicago EA: low reach
Columbia University: low reach
Harvard/Yale/Princeton: reach
Northwestern (Legacy): match
Cornell: high math
Duke: low reach
Brown: low reach
WashU in St. Louis: high match
