my opinion/advice on the SAT, from someone who scored a 2380

regarding the reading section, I would read the entire passage and then look over the answer choices. no special tricks or anything except for reading the questions very carefully and double checking most of my answers. just don’t second guesss yourself and go for the “smart” or “tricky” answer because then you are inferring things that do not exist in the passage.

lastly, i always went with my first instinct. doubt leads to mistakes. its like tennis in some respects, in that mental game gives you a huge edge.

boowhoo,i got a 680 on cr yesterday on QAS,new record..
i started with 550 before summer started…

i agree with all lolcats4 said, except that i kinda use the grammatix technique..i usually read the Q,refer to the lines, and think and predict the right answer. having this in mind,i can spot ridiculously wrong answers, usually u get down to the right answer, but sometimes there are 2 answers that i had to struggle with, at this point,i have no clue but to see what the author wants.. lol..
again,everyone has diff techniques for cr, just try out what works the best..
cr takes practice… lots of practice..in the summer,i did BB cr, and spent more time on reviewing than doing the section. i also did online course, almost done with 10 rs.. so yeah practice really helps!

^Nice!!! Ren, which QAS was that? I’m doing one currently as well.

@ravager, that’s really true…
It’s like you get that feeling when you KNOW it’s right.
But what’s your recommendation on reading faster?
I usually all of the reading comprehension, sometimes save 1 and rarely 2. I read pretty slowly, spending about 4-6 minutes a passage. I average about 1-2 and a half minutes left a section.. Do you think it’s necessary I force myself to read faster? (when I force myself to speed up my reading speed, I find I lose the sense of comprehension/mental dialogue) I’m just worried if the proctor stops like 1-2 minutes early ._.

that was the jan 07 =D

^Ohhhh, I haven’t taken that one yet. I just did the May 2008.
