I have a really low GPA, 2.87 unweighted and 3.18 weighted. However, I have a very high ACT score, 34. I have decent ECs: girl scouts, girl scout bronze, silver, and gold awards, over 200 hours of community service, involved and been a officer of some clubs, dance, and competition dance.

Currently, I am a senior.

I had a lot of personal struggles through out most of high school: depression, issues with family, issues with friends, etc.

The question is, will I be able to get into a decent to high achieving UC? I know that I have to ability to be incredibly high achieving. If I work my butt of first semester of senior year, will UCs consider me? I know that a 4.0 unweighted GPA for me this semester (even the whole year) is very achievable for me. I am taking 2 APs this year.

I plan on centering my college essay around my struggles with my personal issues and how I managed to get myself out of the hole that I dug for myself.

My dream UC is Berkeley, but I know that is very very unlikely.

Any advice? Help? Words of encouragement?
