First - you and your mom should fill out the FAFSA as soon after January 1 as possible, with estimated amounts (like from pay stubs and/or child support). Then, as soon as you can after that, both of you file (unless you don’t have to - do you have a job?), and go back and connect your FAFSA to your tax returns.

You got the fee waivers handled, right?
