Especially my dad. He's so close minded. How can I help convince my parents that a liberal arts education is good?

Is this a private vs. public dispute or big vs. small dispute?

The Asian parent prestige vs no one has heard of LAC dispute?

Depends on the Liberal art... some of them are a bit lacking in putting you in a good job, and college is expensive. Consider your parents' opinions seriously regardless of how closed minded they may seem. If they actually are being unreasonable, remember it is your decision in the long run, if you have the money/aid to go it alone.

Unless you are talking Williams, Amherst or Pomona (Vassar, Wellesley)

listen to your parents.

It is true, a liberal arts degree is unlikely to earn you big money directly. But it helps a lot for graduate school, especially in areas like law.

Most CEOs are liberal arts grads - not necessary from LACs, but many are.

I am an asian parent and I am a big believer of liberal arts education. Liberal arts education teaches you how to think, not necessary to provide you with solutions. It is true that English and history majors are not going to make as much money as other majors initially. But if you want to go into banking, math and econ major are just as desirable as business school gradudates, and BA will give you more options later if you should decide to change your career. I think it is very usueful to have a broad education in liberal arts - literature, arts, music, math, philosophy...It teaches you to be a critical thinker.
