My parents are forcing me to apply ED to Rice University.

D10charrrrrrrrrrr

So what? What do you want us to say?

I attended Rice for a year and it is truly an amazing school… I wouldn’t be complaining. It is very dedicated to undergraduates and professors know your name if you make the effort. You’ll have a great time there; the residential college system makes it feel like a strong community. However, it is a small school, so it does not have as many resources as bigger schools if you want to pursue a less mainstream area of study (but the biology, chemistry, engineering, music, architecture, and social science programs are top notch). I actually left because another school had more resources in my major of interest (environmental science)… Rice would only allow me to double major in it and didn’t have a large variety of classes in this field.

oh sorry slik nik, I deleted everything I posted. But yeah, the “so what?” is that I don’t want to go.

Make a list of reasons why you do not believe the school is a good fit for you.

Have you talked to your counselor?

Can you talk to them about allowing you to apply RD at various schools?

I’m a parent & strongly believe most parents know their kids well and can offer some great suggestions. I believe parents should be able to select a school or two for the kid to apply, esp if the parent is paying the bill. But ED is a serious commitment and should only be applied to if the parents/financiers and the student agree.
