My parents want me to go to a summer college...oh joy

Ok so i live in The San Francisco bay area and my parents want me to do a summer college program for at least 4 or 5 weeks. Im a junior in highschool right now by the way. Any ways what would be the best program that wouldn't be very strict. Like if i want to just leave for a day or two i can go see my friends and stuff. Also a curfew would be out of the question. isn't the whole point of "summer college" to mimic actual college ? so yea which one would be the most fun... I dont want to do an 8 week thing either

oh and even though i sound like a total screw up i shouldnt have problems getting in anywhere cause my grades are really good, though i dont know why.

Generally, no matter what, you will have a curfew. And it's ridiculous to say that you don't want it very strict so that they would let you to leave for a day or two... just... ridiculous.

If you can get something at MIT or Stanford, or some other school which has offered many such summer programs, that would be the best choice. I did one at Stanford, and ended up having loads of fun.

being "forced" to go to summer school is stupid, you don't really get anything out of it unless you really actually want to go there.

No summer program will let you "just leave" for a couple days, and all of them will enforce curfew. It's a liability thing.

^agreed
I wish I could go to a summer program
my parents won't let me. it's too expensive.

want to trade places?

I attended Summer@Brown, not forced to though. It was defiantly relaxed. litterally- just have to be in your dorm's floor by 11. thats it.

you're probably going to have a curfew at any summer program you go too. as someone else said, liability and safety reasons.

check state schools who have larger capacities for these summer programs - they might have room and take rolling applications.

if you want credit for your courses - then the program will be around eight weeks, and not much less. think about it - they're giving a semester's worth of education.

to be honest, i think you should look for something else - maybe a local inernship or job. some universities offer day programs. that way you can "go see [your] friends and stuff" and have more free time/no curfew.

there are plenty of summer college programs.
most of the ucs
jhu, columbia, georgetown.

dun worry. u'll find courses that you like.
