<p>the summer classes at CCA will start at the end of this month,I recently got an estimate award of about 2770$ but it will not be disbursed until june 14th,I am financially unable to pay for my tuition or take out a loan so please what are my other options?
and also will be getting the whole amount listed above if i only register for two classes.

<p>$2775 is the amount of Pell for a semester for a student that enrolls full time. That is generally 12 hours. 2 classes would probably be 6 hours but check with your school - my daughter had one summer class that was only 2 hours so that and another class did not total the required 6 hours, only 5 which meant she was not eligible for any summer Pell. You must be enrolled at least half time in the summer to be eligible for any summer Pell. If you are only enrolled half time you would get half the Pell amount quoted.</p>
<p>Ask your school how they handle the bills and the timing of the Pell disbursement. Usually they have some sort of system set up.</p>
<p>The summer Pell rule requiring half time (at least 6 credits) enrollment only applies if summer Pell is second award of the year. Did you attend school during the fall of 2010 or spring of 2011, or is this your first semester of the year? If you did attend other semesters, how much Pell did you receive each semester? The other thing to know is whether your summer Pell is part of the 2010-11 or 2011-12 award year. If it’s part of 2011-12, it’s your first Pell award of the year regardless of any fall 2010 or spring 2011 enrollment - and in this case, you can be enrolled less than 6 credits & get a partial disbursement based on enrollment … but it counts toward your 2011-12 Pell award & thus is part of the 100% you would be eligible for in summer 2011/fall 2011/spring 2012. There is no second Pell award anymore after 2010-11.</p>
<p>Pell is scheduled at 100%. If you have a 0 EFC, the 100% award is $5550, broken into 2 equal amounts of $2775 per semester. If you take fewer than 12 credits, you receive a prorated amount as follows: 9-11 credits=75% of the semester award; 6-8 credits=50% of the semester award; fewer than 6 credits=25% of the semester award. At higher EFC’s, there may be no scheduled award for less than full time, or the award may not follow the “normal” schedule … see the Pell grant schedule for the award year to see what awards are at various EFC’s and enrollment levels. You can google it if you can’t find it on your school’s website.</p>
