Outstanding Application Materials
[/quote]

Do you guys have that "outstanding application materials" at the bottom of the My Bulliten Board? It looks really out of place; are they telling me I have outstanding application materials? Because if they are, it's a really strange way of saying so, and I doubt it anyways because it seems to be there (if i recall correctly) since day 1. They can't have seen my application that quickly.

What's up with it? I don't want to get excited over nothing.

That’s just where they list outstanding application materials, if there are any. If there’s nothing listed below it, then nothing is outstanding.

You can also click on the “My Application Info” tab at the top and see if everything is listed as “Satisfied” or “Paid.”

^ I had assumed that CrazyPluto understood “outstanding” to mean not yet received or processed, in this particular context. But now rereading the original post, I’m not so sure.

I think it means that the admissions office has everything that’s required – none of the application materials like your transcript, letters of rec, or test scores are missing or “outstanding”. “Outstanding” here is a different definition than what people usually use in conversation to mean excellent: ie. “The performance was outstanding!” vs. “None of the paperwork is still outstanding.”

^ I was really confused too when another college had “you have no outstanding materials” on their applicant portal… but I found out this is a different definition!

That’s funny. Yeah I hadn’t thought of the 2nd definition of outstanding (I never use it) Well, maybe now you can understand why I was confused when it said “Outstanding Application Materials,” it was kind of weird.
