Well, Slipper can't receive PM's so I thought I'd send him a public message, lol:

Hi Slipper,
I understand that you have transferred to Dartmouth. Well, I applied this year and was rejected ED (1420 SATs, but bad SATIIs-- 680,670,660,650,640, W GPA 94.6, was a slacker in 9 and 10 grades but realized I was wasting potentialand being a slacker and kicked it up a notch in 11th and 12th where I never went below a 95 UW, 34/468 at public school in NY, a good amount of decent ECs-- I'm always busy). Do you think that if I maintain a good GPA (3.5 or higher) at Colby College in ME I will stand a good shot at D-mouth as a transfer student for my Sohpomore year? Also, I've been considering the Honors College at UVM, and do you think if I go there instead of Colby, that I will stand a worse shot at Dartmouth?

Thanks!

(anyone else, feel free to reply too! thanks :-))

Hey!

Honestly I would go to Colby, but I think you are going to need more than a 3.5 (I would guess 3.8). My roommate transferred from Colby and had over a 4.0. I only had a 3.3, but I went to Columbia and had a crazily strong high school record. The more you can prove yourself in College, the less high school matters.

thanks for your help :-)! And is it correct that you can apply to transfer halfway through your freshman year?

I'm planning a transfer too, hopefully. Any information would be greatly helpful...is it harder to get into the general flow at college when you transfer?

and how competitive is transferring?

P.S. I'm really considering UVM Honors College (I'd be in honors programs as well). Do you think this would hurt my chances, say if I had very close to a 4.0 average (or higher) there? I know you can't know for sure, but from your experience, what are your thoughts on this? Thanks! :-D
