My professor and TA are both ignoring my e-mails about my letter of recommendation!

About 3 weeks ago, I asked the professor and TA for one of my classes and asked if they were willing to jointly write me a letter of recommendation. They both agreed to, and asked me to e-mail them the appropriate forms and information, since we were all off-campus for the holidays.

I sent them an e-mail with the application forms and asked them if they would prefer to mail the letters out themselves, or to have me mail them: No reply. I figured, no big deal, I can figure that out later.

I sent them another e-mail shortly before school asking if they would like to meet to discuss any questions they had, and so that I could hand them hard copies of my materials: no reply.

Now that the rush at the beginning of school has died down and we are all for sureback on campus, I e-mailed the both of them again asking if we could meet up sometime to provide them hard copies of my materials in addition to envelopes.
No reply, from either of them! I know that they check their e-mails every day... when I was in their class, they would respond to e-mails at lightning speed!

What should I do now? Since there are two people writing this one letter for me, I'm not sure who the appropriate person to bug is. I have found out my professor's office hours but I absolutely cannot make them --- I have a mandatory class during that time. I want to e-mail to set up another time to meet but my e-mails are going ignored! I need the letter in 3 weeks... is it too early to start being annoying? I don't want to make them angry at me either. Any advice is appreciated.

Send the forms and letter via snail mail, and ask for an appointment. Say that it appears that something isn’t working via Email. Or call them, and leave a message.

The professor doesn’t seem to have a phone line, and the TA doesn’t have her own office…so e-mail or hoping I run into them is the only way to get in touch. So frustrating! I am so worried I won’t have the letters in time.

You’re going to have to figure out a way to get to office hours, and see them in person if you’re not able to electronically connect. Talk to the Prof of your current class and explain you need to see other Prof. and about the conflict. They’ll understand.

Better to find another prof. For recommendation
