I’m a person who not strong in English
I’m sorry to say that I think you have no chance at all for Exeter for a couple very specific reasons: 1) you must be as fluent in English as a native speaker in order to handle the extraordinary workload at the school. The school is based on the Harkness method which has students sitting around a table conversing about the topic at hand. A significant part of the grade is class participation so there is insane pressure to talk for grades (a whole separate issue) and 2) Your computer skills while impressive make you one-dimensional. The school wants well-rounded/ multi dimensional/multi-interest students who will join clubs and teams and be part of the fabric of the school not sit in front of a computer screen when they are not in class. Lastly, you play no sports at all it seems. This is not indicative of a well rounded young person. They dont expect professional athletes but even several years of soccer or swimming shows an interest and ability to go outside a comfort zone and challenge yourself. I suggest you target some schools that are focused on computer programming.
Financial aid is going to kill you way before they even read the application I’m afraid…
In addition to what @Center said…they take a few, if any, for 11th grade.
@justinh111 While this may seem harsh I think its important if you are serious about a Boarding school, to understand how complex and difficult admission can be even for a US applicants that is full pay and has a whole pile of extracurriculars. You seem like a very bright and accomplished person but considering your somewhat narrow interests I would focus on a school that will embrace that focus.
As stated previously, you will most likely not get in for the following reasons:
- You’re international (I think) from Asia.
- You need financial aid.
- You’re applying for 11th grade which is arguably the most difficult year level.
- You’re not perfectly fluent in English, something every applicant to top prep school needs, and should have.
Perhaps try to look for other schools that may ‘fit’ your needs.
Forgot the mention I played Soccer for 6 year , guitar for 3 year,tennis for 4 year
I was under the impression that they don’t give financial aid to overseas students.
@toomanykiddos really? haven’t heard that
From what I’ve heard, it is very difficult for international students to obtain FA, as most int applicants are expected to be full-pay
@altablue that is what we have heard. Definitely best for the OP to investigate further!
not much: not none but very limited. It is as it should be. The schools and their endowment money is all considered not for profit (on the backs of the Us taxpayers) so the financial aid is generally for US citizens
