My Progress Thread - We Will Triumph

Thanks medical boy and 233

Took a real sat today did much better then i normally do. I don’t know if it’s because kaplan tests are illogical or because the real test I took was 7 years old. I got a 700 in cr i think i would have done better if i didn’t bomb one passage. I got a 740 writing assuming I got a 10 essay all my errors were in sentence improvement so i need to work on that. I got only one wrong in math so that’s a 790. I am very happen with the 2230 since I never broke 2200 before. Very good day I’m very happy

I took Jan 2006’s SAT today. All timed.
780 on CR (yay, first over 750 CR) 800 on Math, 650 on writing.

Still need some work on writing.

@Jeff, maybe we should do some review together? I think we did the same test.

Just finished a practice test. Fairly confident but there were a few problems that tripped me up.

I’ll grade and post results after some lunch. I’m starrrrving. :)

Benjamn we should work together It would help us both push oursleves I pmmed you a link did you do that test

Benjamin what grade are you in? How do you do CR so effectively

Woahhhhh.

Math: 800
Writing: 800
Reading: 700 (5 wrong 1 omit)

So unexpected but I can’t get overconfident. There were some math problems that were tough and I just got lucky. Writing was really easy so I can’t expect that score on test day lol. And reading, there is still room for improvement.

Overall, I’m getting better but I can’t depend on luck. I have to consistently get this score to do well on the real SAT. My goal is to get three/four 2250+ out of the 5 weekends left to study.

I’ll review the whole test and maybe post some problems tonight.

@MedicalBoy 5 wrong 1 omit? That’s a 730 (raw score of 60)

Yea I know but I base my scores off of the harshest curve so there are no surprises when I get my scores. A 730 was the scaled score for this test but using a harsh curve it is 700.

Either way, this was just one test. I have to be consistent and not mess up on test day.

MedicalBoy do you mind posting a link to the curve you use? The last thing I want is to be overly generous with myself. Congrats on the 2300 btw

I don’t see this “practice” score as an accomplishment. I’ve scored pretty high on practice tests before but I mess up on test day.

I enter the number wrong and take the worst score of the 3.

@MyRealName I graduated this summer, and I took a gap year. I will apply this year.

For CR, memorizing vocabularies clicks for me. I used to be in the high 600 low 700 range, but couple tests I took recently, I managed to reach 750+
I implemented Noitaraperp’s method, and I review about 300-500 vocabs everyday.

The two test I recently took, I got 19/19 on SC, -2 or -3 on CR, this puts me near a perfect score. Some almost impossible questions are becoming much easier once you have a strong foundation on vocabulary.

Thanks medical boy!!! This link is quite useful.

satsarecool (which they aren’t) Chung’s is a lot harder than the real test and if u constantly get only one wrong, I’m pretty sure ur in good shape. I used Chung’s to review and sometimes even get 2-3 wrongs; but I got 780 on the real test. I think I got a careless error because the question I got wrong was a medium one. Good lucks :)

Benjamin I wanna start memorizing loads of vocabs after seeing this. Nice job! Good lucks! :)

Holy *. During todays test their were several points I wanted to grade a section since I thought I did very poorly like 500’s or 600’s I feel like on this test I got really lucky more so then anything else since I wasn’t really confident on anything. That being said I did *ing great 3 wrong writing 2 wrong cr both vocab and 1 wrong math it was an arithmetic error. So presuming a 10 essay, which is becoming quite an assumption since I haven’t done a single practice essay since the march sat, I got a 2270 according to worst case scenario. I really thought I messed up and got high 1800’s.

Guys, for everyone’s info, you can purchase an proctor app from App Store, ’ SAT Proctor ’ by simulator. I have used it for several times. It’s really nice!!!

where do you get all your practice tests from? thanks!

Hooray, just graded Oct 2006 sat. First time 800 on CR!!! I am ecstatic.

There are couple tricky really questions, only managed to POE them.

800 on CR
800 on Math
660 on Writing.

Now, sentence error questions are keeping me from breaking 2300. I will go over blue book for all sentence error questions.

Kevin, it’s scattered everywhere on the internet. If you google specific test name, you should able to come up with couple test.
