My Quandary

Hi all, I am currently a high school junior faced with this dilemma:
Since I was a freshman, my extracurriculars have always had a math/science bent to them. (i.e. USABO Semifinalist Sophomore Year, Math Team Captain, Science Club Officer, Bausch Lomb Science Award). Recently, though, I have found myself increasingly interested in business careers such as I-banking, and consulting. I am still about evenly split between my two interests. Now,this summer I might do a selective Research Program at a local University. This Program allows you to pursue a host of different research projects which are mostly biology related with a couple in the field of Math and Computer Science. Would I be better off if I do the Computer Science project that will show atleast a slight business interest to colleges or a biology project that will firmly establish my long term interest in biology?

Personally, I think its way too late in the game to be changing my ECs focus. I am planning on applying to ivy leagues as a biology major and maybe switching my major to business, once accepted, if I still in fact retain my interest in that field (I guess you can't do that for Wharton though since its a separate school). What do you think?

My current stats are slightly competitive.(UW GPA - 4.0, 1520/2260, Rank-1, Projected NMSF)

It doesn’t matter.

business and math are connected – so you aren’t completely changing everything. On top of that, kids do change their interests (in your case, it sounds more like you are refining your interests).

I suggest sticking with math/science. You can always wait until college to take a more active interest in business.
