Yeah, science is definitely my worst subject. I get anywhere from 30-34 on the reading, but on science I got 2 27s, a 26, a 28, and a 32 (lucky there).

I've tried everything. Skipping the reading and going to the questions. Then I tried reading carefully and answering the questions, and I've tried skimming like the reading and answering the questions, then I tried going straight to the questions and referring back to the passage and that didn't help either....yeah, I think that's just about every strategy out there, and they just don't work for me.

i've only taken the ACTs once, but i got a 33 on the reading section and i consider myself a very slow reader yet i actually finished with a minute or two to spare on the ACT. i found myself get into a very intense mindset where i was quickly skimming the entire passage and not stopping to really re-read or delve deep into the passage... just 'skim' as fast as you can and do not actually read the passages, as long as you get an idea of what they are saying.

Yeah, there's just some questions there that are a bit funky. Sometimes it can be the difference of just one word in the passage. Skimming, it's very difficult to pick up on that one word that changes so much.

Okay I just got in PR, Kaplans, Barrons, Real ACT and SAT Blue book. It had been a while and the damn hurricane messed me up. Best preparation strategies please? Keep in mind what I have to work with.

Somehow I got a 36 on the reading after my freshmen year. I took it cold, I barely knew what it was about. For the reading section I read every section word for word and just answered the question. Had about 3-5 minutes left for every section. I am a pretty fast reader anyway, so I guess my advice would be read everything that you can and relax, when I took it I didn't even know that time was truly an issue.

You're taking the test on Saturday and you haven't studied at all? You're not going to get a 36 bro.

No I am taking it in December. I changed my mind a while back and decided to do it in December. Give some prep to do with these books.

What I mean is should I take the 3 real act tests cold before studying? That way I know where I stand before studying.

So I am a grade a procrastinator and have to take it in feb due to the fact I am a senior. It is time to grind my *** off for hours a day. Hopefully I can achieve my goal. btw my goal is now a 34. I doubt I will get a 36 but who knows?

First Real ACT Test Enlgish Part taken 10-26-08: 22

Second Real ACT Test English Part taken 12-25-08: 19
Second Real ACT Test Math Part taken 12-25-08: 21

Third Real ACT Test Math Part taken 01-05-09: 26

Those are my cold results, which are nowhere near where I need to be. Now, I remember from a while back that people were saying that PR is a beast at preping for English. Could someone confirm this. I heard about many people going from low 20s to high 30s in English using PR. Math is really easy for me at first, but towards the end is where I get stumped. What is the best way to prep for that? I listed all the books and stuff in a post up above. I plan on doing the practice SAT Math parts to get my mind ready for those hard math problems.

btw I decided to attack Math and English first. By next week, maybe even this week I will attack science and reading. I have about 5 weeks to pull this off so any and all help would be appreciated.

Also, it isn't the time constraints I am struggling with on these parts. I usually finish Englsih with about 5 minutes left and math I usually finish on the dot or a little before that. It is just the material I am struggling with. The test I took on Christmas day I don't really take seriously because I wasn't in a great test taking mood and I guessed a lot on both sections because of it.

Well please reply and give your advise. I am off to fill out my ACT registration Packett to mail in today and get 3-4 hours of sleep before school tomorrow. This is going to be a grueling 5 weeks. I hope I can pull this off.
