So I've only made two Bs on my report card before Senior Year.
I got a 92 in AP Chem and a 91 in AP Calc AB in 11th grade
However, this year I made some lower Bs with an 89 in AP Calc BC and a 90 in AP Biology on my midterm/midyear transcript (I seriously slacked off this year!)
This has caused my rank to drop from 7 out of 380 to 9 out of 380.

I'm really concerned about my downward trend since fresh/sophomore year. I know I started taking APs my Junior year, so my grades were not as good as my grades from sophomore year, but that's not the main reason why. I've been suffering from an eating disorder secretly since Junior year.( I did not put that on my application)

Anyway, how much will my downward trend affect me? Thanks guys!

Everyone goes downhill during senior year. I don’t think that senior grades will matter as much as colleges are informed of a known disease called senioritis. Don’t worry about it!

Lighten up, a drop of two spots in class rank will not hurt you. However, see a professional about your eating disorder. You need to get that under control, particularly before you head off to college.

Make sure that you find a therapist in the area where you will be in college. The stress of freshman year, especially if you are a perfectionist (worrying about a two-person drop in rank and an 89 and 90), can really set off eating disorders and other issues. I don’t have an eating disorder, but back in college stress from my “terrible” grades (similar to yours) caused flare ups with my post traumatic stress disorder. Best to be proactive on these things and meet a good therapist maybe even once or twice a month so there is a relationship established should you need it.

I’m sorry but I understand where he is coming from! Colleges look for improvement through high school (starting with a couple b’s then improving to straight A’s) and not the other way around. I think if you are reaching for a public ivy or an ivy, they may worry about it. They DON’T care about senioritis. They don’t think it’s an excuse. If not, you should be fine. I mean your rank is still great but I’ve have four B’s through high school and I’m ranked 24th. The top 10 in my class have had straight A’s or maybe one B.

Thanks for all the replies guys! I really hope I can get it under control but it’s been really bad recently @BB8764 well how much would it hurt me? and yes I did apply to a lotof top 25 schools. Your school is probably more competitive than mine. It’s obviously too late I already ruined my grades! (actually I really don’t think I could ever get an A in Calculus that class is impossibly hard not bc I’m lazy or bc of my ED)

@melinda yes 93-100 is an A and 85-92 is a B

They will understand that Calculus is hard. It may hurt you a little but I don’t think a lot. If the rest of your application is really strong they’ll probably overlook it. I think it really depends on the school. Look up your schools that you’re applying to and what they have to say about mid year report. Some will say they are really really important and then others won’t. You haven’t ruined your grades or your chances at the school. Your rank is still amazing!!! Just do some research (:

You haven’t ruined your grades. You need to stop being overly critical of yourself. It will all be fine. And yes, it is stressful, but you are in the final stretch so hang in there.

Relax a bit. Upward or downward trend is meant in general terms. Going form 7 to 9 (out of 380) in ranking is about the same. You are still doing well. Statistically you do not have a downward trend. You look about the same type of student. You need a lot more B’s and quiet a drop in the ranking to signify a downward trend. Small variations are not a trend. Keep up with the good work and feel good about your accomplishments.
