+PLEASE READ AND COMMENT THIS TOO+My main incentive as a somewhat "hook" is my Video Media interest. Most Premed students applying are all solely interested in science and math. Although I have that too, I think maybe adcoms will think that video media is a different unique interest in a premed student. I have been in the class for 3 years (10,11,12) and have started my own club on my interest. hopefully they will like that.

here are a few of my meaningful ECs i still plan to attach a resume to each of my applications..

thanks for all who can help

you have great EC's (but you knew that;))

your SAT score is kind of low...

You can apply and see what happens, since most of the people here are going to be in the same position as you (including me:o), I suggest you post this chances thread on the specific university thread....

Have you won any awards?

let's face it..you're in at your safeties and everything else these days is a crap shoot. there are alot of people like you applying to all these schools so do what you can to make them all think they are your #1 school and that will help to increase your chances. Visit, visit, visit..and interview where you can if you are comfortable in those settings..sometimes interest can make the difference between one candidate and another who has shown none.

Your grades are to die for, you SAT scores are not that bad. I say you have a very chance to get in 95% of the schools you are applying to. Don't worry you will get in....

i agree wit flyboy, but i disagree wit browngirl.

great ECs, but maybe you can raise those SAT scores? just a suggestion to boost ur chances

thanks guys, as for my SAT scores, bad news.. i have taken them three times already and have studied countless hours to improve my CR but it never happened... o well...

I am takin the ACTs again and hoping to get around a 33-34 which will help out.

Medical Mania, I have won the Williams College Prize Book Award but I dont know if that is real big, even though one junior gets it from my school per year.

As for the college visits, i know colleges like to see commitment into their school but how would they know if i came to visit their school? i mean do they keep a tab of who all came? Some schools that i visited i didnt go on the official campus tour, just on my own and stuff. I email my colleges about questions and stuff and will soon call them to show my great interest in my colleges. that a good idea??

Thanks for all who have posted, any other suggestsions or comments? what do you guys think about the hook (or if it is any kind of hook at all)?

Thanks I appreciate it, bump

what kind of medical doctor do you hope to be?

hopefully a cardiologist or cardiac surgeon, but thats a long ways off

any other suggestions, comments or advice? thanks

Your academics are good except for your SAT's, which are weaker than many top applicants, and your AP Chem, on which you got an odd score for your field. Your GPA is great, but if the courses it came from weren't impressive, it won't count for as much as someone else's 4.0 GPA. You alone know that, since you didn't post your course list.

Also... whatever your EC's are, awards are important too. None of your awards stand out or are prestigious.

Your EC's are good, but not phenomenal enough to near-guarantee entry into HPYSM. You have 2 leadership positions, and you got admitted to Governor's School. If you could only crank up your SAT's to 2300+, your stats would be reflective of a lot of HPYSM acceptees... minus the number of AP exams and awards.

Of course, if 1 AP is normal at your school, colleges might take that into consideration... but a 3 in Chemistry, of all subjects, for a pre-med, might hurt you a lot.

that is true, i think i might cancel or strike out that ap chem score. unforuntely i cannot take the SATs again bc i took it 3 times already.

my course load has been the most rigorous that my highschool can offer each year since freshman year.

any other suggestsions or comments, thanks

enough is enough

umm yea token, this is my last one, hench FINAL CHANCES?

any suggestions? thanks

bump thanks guys.,.

You will get your feedback in April, when the real decision makers (adcoms) send their letters. In the meantime, maybe you should go on the schools individual websites, look at the qualifications in past years, and assess your own chances. Feedback here really means nothing. What does your gut tell you? Looking at the amount of schools you're applying to, I woudl spend more time right now on essays than looking for predictions. Proper preparation predicts results.

good call flyboy, but still i would like some feedback, thanks though

As of rite now, IMO, HYPS are pretty big reaches. You don't have any big awards, and EC's aren't mind blowing. I'm not sure tho cause i'm obviously not an expert, but I don't think that you have a great chance as of rite now. You mite be able to get into one of them if your essays turn out to be amazing. My advice is that you should try to bring that SAT score up.

yea but as ive reiterated so many times before, I cannot take the SATs again! but anyways, i know HYPS are reaches, I mean they are reaches for anyone. My main focus and goal is to get into one of the Accelerated Med Programs
