My Recomendation letter is missing???????

I applied to Northeastern but my it says that they haven't recieved one of my recomendations on the "check application status" page. I think it must be my teacher recomendation since I never checked if she sent it. Now I only have until Jan 15th to get it in. Is it fine if I end up getting it in late if I email the college and tell them how my teacher forgot to send it? IM FREAKING OUT.

Thanks in advance.

I cannot speak for the adcoms at Northeastern and you would have to speak to them yourself but in my experience adcoms are very understanding of things like that, just talk to your teacher ASAP and make sure the rec has been sent.

One way of reminding teachers without sounding rude or impatient is to give them a card that says "thank you for writing and sending in my recommendation" or something like that. Of course, if it is very close to the deadline, you may need to be more upfront.

Maybe you could talk to them at school or send an e-mail, saying "I was checking my application status for Northeastern, and I noticed that they haven't received your recommendation yet. I would appreciate it very much if you could send it out ASAP, seeing as the deadline is the 15th of January. Thank you."

A couple of situations may have occurred:

a. The teacher has not sent anything yet.
b. The school received the recommendation but did not process it yet.
c. The school recieved it but it hasn't shown up on the website yet (sometimes these things take time, especially when the mail is heavy)

You could also request them to fax the recommendation; since it is only for one school it shouldn't be too difficult. Besides, we're talking final deadlines here - who is he/she to disqualify you from being considered for admission by Northeastern? So I don't think they'll have a problem with helping you out.

Even though these are very important matters, I too had to "prod" a teacher into sending his rec for me - which we students should NOT have to do. I mean, I gave him a neat list of deadlines for all my schools, enveloped, everything ready in a clean folder....but some teachers are extremely busy and subsequently, absentminded.

....adding on the equilibrium's list.

d. The recommendation may have been lost in the mail.

Thanks for the responses, anyway I talked to my teacher and she said she sent it so the only possible reason is it got lost in the mail or they haven't updated the site. If it did get lost in the mail what would I do from thier?

i am in your shoes....it says they have not recieved my rec. and my teacher said she sent it! NEU needs to update that site

it did NOT get lost in the mail. Chill. All the sites say nothin's in b/c of the great december/january floods. I would be worried if u hadn't talked to the teacher. But she said she sent it; and if u gave ur rec to a teacher u can't address an evelope, then u were just screwed from the start anyway :). but i kid. ur fine. enjoy freedom from apps.... :))

All the colleges lose stuff. Just send it again by FEDEX. Get a signature. email all your other colleges or call to confirm they have everything.

I agree with Spiker. Better safe than screwed...
