I gave my teachers and counselor my reccomendation forms and school records sheet at the end of November/beginning of December. I figured they would have it done by now, but they don't! Only my English teacher has completed it.

It kind of makes me mad to tell you the truth. I mean, it's 15 minutes out of their day, they knew when the deadline was, and they've had it a month and a half! I've asked them to please have it done by Tuesday, and I think they will.

Do schools (SPS in particular) have leniancy on teacher recs and transcripts?

yes, plus they have to deal with processing and such. so don’t have a heart attack. I was just on the phone(well my dad was) with SPS and they’re ok w/ it. b’.'

Thanks, haha. That makes me feel a lot better.

I’m not as sure as RiP that they will be complacent regarding your deadlines. Part of the process is to follow through with the teachers and ensure that all was according to plan. Did your teachers write you a rejection? I would doubt that. However, I don’t think indifference is the best path of action, for you. Call each school–not just SPS–and confirm that the letters will be coming in and specify the date at which they will do so. Be concise, as they are busy.

As an aside, how is your relationship with said teachers? A good relationship (hence a good recommendation letter) would entail at least a certain level of care regarding issues such as these. If they treat this with the disdain that you have ascribed, I would question the relationship. Don’t read two far into this, I am just wondering.

Also, make sure that you explain to the schools that they are late because of a “misunderstanding between you and the school”, say whatever you want, I put that out there as a general guideline. The schools will feel that you are committed to them if you take the time to do this and tell them why you are submitting after the deadline.

Well, I assume that my relationship with my teachers are good, as I have A’s in their classes. My math teacher told me on Wednesday that he completely forgot about it, and he would have it to me by Friday. But he was absent Friday, so I didn’t get it. My biology teacher told me she would get it to me as soon as she could. And my GC, well… Pretty much everyone in our school agrees that he is not fit for the job. When I first gave him the form, I explained to him what it was and what I wanted him to do with it. For some reason he sent it to my English teacher! He is not the sharpest tool in the shed, if you catch my drift.

Remember to check with them tommorow too if they haven’t sent it out yet. If your GC isn’t doing this correctly then maybe you or your parents should contact the principal.
