These arent my grades but just an example of how my schools report is like. How do I calculate my GPA for the UC's? Do I use just the term grades, the semester grades, or both of them?

uhm it usually goes like this if you have finals and midterms. if its 4 terms…
each term 20% with average of final and midterm being 20%. look in ur student handbook if ur school has one. every1 school weighs finals and terms different i believe

The UC’s have some sort of UC calculator and I think there’s an online page for it where it calculates it for you… But, I don’t remember what that is. Try googling it.

Yes. My report card looks like that too, but it’s only the semester grades that count for GPA, and only the semester grades will be on the transcripts you send to colleges.

I’d also like to add that like half the teachers dont even report semester grades. They just include term grades, and not semester grades. So on my transcript it has like A ,A, and then it goes blank for the semester grade.

Colleges have undoubtedly seen transcripts like yours, probably from your very high school, before, and will know how to decipher semester versus quarter grades. They will calculate your GPA for you. Most US high schools also send colleges a form that explains their grading practices along with the GC eval, and it is likely that your hs has something like that. If you are convinced that your transcript really is unusual and will be difficult for an admissions officer to figure out, you could always send the relevant admissions officers a matter of fact email expressing your strong interest in their school but voicing concern that your hs has confusing transcripts. You could invite them to get in touch with you if they have questions, and you could also provide contact info for your GC (if the GC is a reliable, helpful person). But colleges see transcripts from all kinds of schools from all over the world and from home schoolers as well. I don’t think you have to worry.
