My Roommate Does Drugs

As other have already suggested, please talk to him, and see if he at least knows what he’s doing. If he’s one of those who does careful research before trying anything, he (and you) might be okay.

But doing MDMA all by himself… he wouldn’t be lying in his bed, that’s for sure. Does he go out? :O

First, some of the posters here seem to have really gotten into that DARE “all drugs are bad all the time” garbage. Drug abuse is bad, and there are some legitimate dangers involved with many illegal drugs. Used responsibly however, some can be a great experience, and can really improve your life and expand your mind. This dogmatic hatred of all drug use is just ridiculous.

As for the hate crime thing, I think that you need to read up on the issue. I personally think of it as two separate crimes, and evaluate it as such. A man who murders his coworker after a fight has done something wrong, and should be punished for the murder. A man who murders a black/gay/trans/whatever person because of their identification has also committed this crime, and should also be punished for murder. In the latter case however, the murderer has perpetrated a second crime by inciting others to act in the same way. The man murdering his coworker is not pushing an agenda to inspire others to kill THEIR coworkers; the hate crime perp IS influencing others to commit similar acts of violence, and should be punished for this as well.

That said, not all murders against minorities are hate crimes, and it’s up to the courts to determine the intent of the person’s actions. Intent matters.

I don’t get the whole ‘expand your mind’ thing though. I’ve gotten high off of weed before, it’s fun and I’d do it again (but only in the privacy of my or a friend’s home) but it wasn’t exactly mind-expanding… unless you consider inventing jokes about buses an expansion of one’s mind :P

Weed isn’t really mind expanding. Try some shrooms and you will see what se’s talking about.

Low doses of LSD can be extremely beneficial. My own experiences aside, many great minds have used LSD to enhance their perceptions. Francis Crick’s conception of DNA came while using LSD, and Richard Feynman used it on occasion as well. I’m sure that there are other examples, but those are the first two that come to mind.

Musicians: John Lennon, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Jimi Hendrix, Jerry Garcia, Dave Matthews, Jim Morrison, Marilyn Manson, Carlos Santana, Eminem,

Businessmen: Richard Branson, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates

Others: John Belushi, Angelina Jolie, Jack Nicholson, Dan Rather.

Other psychadelic drug users: Paris Hilton (shrooms), Adolph Hitler (Mescaline),

Obama used Marijuana and Cocaine.
Bush was an heavily-addicted alcoholic, and also used Marrijuana.
Clinton used pot.

WOW

OBVIOUSLY, we should all use drugs in order to be successful. And Obviously, those brilliant minds were only able to develop their ideas through drug use.

Oh one more thing, Eminem, on multiple occasions, overdosed, went to the hospital, and within a week of departure, goes right back to his old habits. Now, he regrets his past and claims to be completely clean. YEA. Drugs are good for you.

The thing with LSD, Marijuana, and Shrooms is its nearly impossible to overdose. Doing too much will make you freak out or give you a bad a trip but it would take an insane amount of any of the the three to kill you.

Eminem is a ****can afaic, but it’s undeniable that some drugs are used to facilitate creativity.

Smoking cigarettes has been proven to be more deadly than some of the illegal drugs listed.

@Jerzey Jon, Obama is only on record for using marijuana. Bush was the one who did coke.

What I want to know is: Did Gore, Kerry, or McCain use drugs? And if they didn’t, then what does that mean?

@ISUClulub Not all drugs are the same. Eminem’s problem is he keeps messing with pills. If he was just using weed and psychadelics, there would have been no reason for him to go into rehab.

Also, there is a book on how psychadelic drug use played a heavy role in the creation oft he modern computers and internet.

No, Obama did coke as well.

[Obama tells N.H. class not to mimic him - The Boston Globe](http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2007/11/21/obama_gets_blunt_with_nh_students/)

Well, we know that’s how CC got started, that’s for true.

Regarding the drugs: find them, flush them.

well. To think that things like Bluetooth was thought up by a guy on LSD, that’s kind of depressing to think about. Yea, we might as well legalize steroids in football. Don’t you think that it just contradicts the human conscience? Instinctively, you just know it’s wrong.

I read an old article on Obama’s abuse of cocaine, and I’m pretty sure I saw Gore and Kerry’s names in there as well - not to mention… GW (I’m not surprised about that one). I’m not sure about McCain. Personally it would break my heart, because he seems so disciplined.

I seriously doubt Clinton smoking weed had anything to do with his success. I don’t really get the point of listing all of those people and the drugs they’ve done (including weed).

That it’s impossible to be successful without having done drugs? These drugs probably had little to no effect on most of these individuals…particularly the politicians.

Same here; I think it’s a ‘cum hoc ergo propter hoc’.
