I did an overnight at Columbia and thought it was an extremely memorable experience/incredible visit (no... i did not drink if that's what you're thinking)

Sadly, I must say no to Columbia mainly because of aid and I like the Wharton curriculum more than the Core (although the Core isn't too bad and has lots of merits)

I want everyone out there who is having trouble deciiding between Columbia and other schools to know.... Columbia is truly incredible... I love the place and I feel like it'll always hold a place in my heart.... maybe graduate school there? Who knows.

For those of you who have nothing barring you from attending Columbia (in my case financial aid is largely different), please don't let the opportunity of the Columbia experience slip through your fingers. This is a place of free thought, intelligence, diversity, opportunity, culture, and enjoyment of life.

I figure if I can help someone else see the beauty of Columbia, I can feel better about my choice.

I bet you could have had Columbia match or beat your Penn finaid. Financial aid shouldn't have been an issue at all, as you could have challenged it.

But, if you like Penn better (and it seems as if you do), that's a perfectly good reason to go there. If you'd rather be at Columbia and the money is holding you back, I urge you to appeal your financial aid offer. If you really want to be at Penn, congrats on your choice and don't look back.

Columbia2002, to be honest.... part of me feels like socially I fit better at Columbia, but the Penn curriculum fits me betters.... They're both amazing schools and my heart is somewhat split :(

What's the gut feeling? Absolute gut? Because...this is where you're spending the next four years of your life. Practical considerations do matter, but you don't want to feel like you gave something up.

It is hard to know what socially fits someone better. If you hate a school, it is one thing. But, if you think "Columbia is going to be an A+ social experience...but Penn is a B+ social experience," that's another matter. You'll be happy at either one.

Thanks for the re-assurance C2002, it's just that I love both schools so I think I'd feel sad either way I picked.... I think I'll be fine socially at Penn -- I adapt quick

Reeze, I'm in your boat. Or at least I was. I picked Penn for undergrad. I still love Columbia and if I go to grad school, I will certainly be applying there
