My SAP appeal feedback needed.

I was unable to meet the minimum requirements of the satisfactory academic policy due to a a few reasons. One of them was laziness I was not serious enough about my school work to go seek the extra help and go to my professor’s office hours when it was needed. I did not go to the LEC as much as I should have and I also did not put in as much time studying as I should have.

This summer I have had time to reflect on my poor academic performance last school year. I have made a vow to myself and to my family that it will never happen again. There have been many changes that will help me be a successful student for the next academic year. I was suspended but I was allowed to come back due to some changes. Now that I am allowed to attend XX, I am required to due multiple things that will make me a successful student. I am required to change my major as soon as I am eligible and I have worked with my advisor XX to changing my major from Pharmacy to Business. I am required to meet with my advisor XX and my success coach once a month. I am also required to visit the LEC regularly because my visits are tracked. I have also changed my mindset about college due to the fact that I have been given a second chance to attend this university. These have all contributed to my college preparation which will help me be a successful student at XX this upcoming year.

I would change it a bit, taking some responsibility for why you messed up in the past and explaining how the requirements you cite will actually help you do better:
I ADMIT THAT I WAS NOT PROPERLY FOCUSED ON MY STUDIES IN THE PAST. I DID NOT TAKE MY WORK SERIOUSLY, DID NOT SEEK EXTRA HELP, DID NOT VISIT MY PROFESSORS’ OFFICE HOURS, AND DID NOT STUDY AS MUCH AS I SHOULD HAVE. MY LAZINESS RESULTED IN MY NOT MEETING SAP. Now that I am allowed to attend XX, I am required to due multiple things that will make me a successful student. I FEEL THAT CHANGES IN MY UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT IS NECESSARY TO DO WELL IN COLLEGE, ALONG WITH THE SCHOOL’S REQUIREMENTS FOR ME, WILL KEEP ME ON TRACK TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN SCHOOL. I am required to change my major as soon as I am eligible and I have worked with my advisor XX to changing my major from Pharmacy to Business. THIS CHANGE IS POSITIVE BECAUSE … (state why you think you will do better in B than in Ph). I am required to meet with my advisor XX and my success coach once a month. BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE IN THIS WAY WILL FORCE ME TO STAY ON TOP OF MY ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS. I am also required to visit the LEC regularly. THE FACT THAT MY VISITS ARE TRACKED WILL ALSO HELP ME TO STAY ON TOP OF MY STUDIES. I have also changed my mindset about college due to the fact that I have been given a second chance to attend this university. These have all contributed to my college preparation which will help me be a successful student at XX this upcoming year.

Thank you very much!! I will get to it right away

I don’t understand this part. Is this the first time you were suspended? Do you mean to say, “If I am allowed to come back I will make the following changes.”

Yes I appealed and I was allowed back to school. sorry for the confusion

So this is your second request?

Your letter,in my opinion, doesn’t include the key ingredient…what you have already DONE to change your situation…and what you will continue to do if allowed to return.

TBH…if this is your second time around this block…perhaps you should consider why this is happening…what you really need to do to address your issues, and whether going to college NOW is really the right thing for you to be doing.

Your first thread about this issue was in MAY. What has changed since May? What have you actually done to improve your academic performance?

I am guessing the first appeal was to stay in school. The SAP appeal is to be able to get financial aid while staying in school. The OP needs to persuade the committee that he/she realizes what went wrong before and what they will do in the future so things go better this time. Meeting with an academic advisor is always suggested, but in OP’s case, the school is forcing meetings … so the meetings should be mentioned, along with what they will accomplish.

My appeal was accepted now I am able to attend school with financial aid.

Great news…work hard!!

1Thank you guys for all your help

That is great news! I wish you the very best as you continue with your studies.
