Initially scored ~1700 or so through BB practice test where I knew nothing about the SAT.

From then, combined with my SAT prep, I did a BB test everyday, reviewed my mistakes thoroughly. When I ran out of BB tests, I took up the online course for more tests. After that, I went to my local book store and purchased 3 SAT books or so along with ANOTHER BB. I redid all 8 BB tests second time. I also started memorizing some vocabulary - around 50 everyday because CR was my weakest.

Currently, I am working through the QAS practice tests.

From all of the above, I moved from a 1700 to 2300+. I spent approximately 5 hours every day doing SAT since June. Now, I do about 2 hours everyday since school is about to start.

I do not believe there is such a thing as "capped talent". No talent, only goals.

hm, i didn't really study at all until my first sat score came out, i feel like crap, because one of my friend scored 2000 ish , and im only in the 1400s, i didn't wanna keep that 1400 ish forever,so i followed what he did,he was 1500 ish at first, he memorized tons of words; so in a way, hes like my inspiration, i had this message in mind that i must finish those word smart books by PR, and i must beat him. and thinking about the future, how getting into a good college will bring all the good stuff---these motivations drive me forward.
one thing many people lack(apparently not on CC), is motivation.
it is unfair that some people are smarter than most of us naturally, that's why we gonna put it more effort and time to make up that smartness we dont have, motivation is the key - the desire of sucess =P

Not to sound haughty or cavalier, but your GPA isn't exactly stellar. So yes, if you don't do well on the SAT, you will seem average to most schools on your list.

Don't be discouraged though. SAT is more of a game than anything else, and just like all games, practice makes perfect (or better). In short, work hard buddy.

Your other stuff are not bad at all lol, only your sat is a bit low...but I'm sure you could improve. I got a 150~ on my sophomore psat (around 42 W, 45 CR, 59 M), did quite a bit of studying for the sat and got a 1810 (680 M, 530 CR, 600 W) first time I took it in june. I'm doing MORE studying and getting like 1900~ on my practice tests (highest I scored was 2060, which was yesterday! 760 M, 740 W, 560 CR). Planning on retaking it again Oct. and get around a low 2000~. And re-retake it again Dec. (if I'm able to make it) and hopefully get a superscore of 2100.

So that's my plan...2100 is not really "high" in terms of CC standards, but if I AM able to get it I'll be really really REALLY happy. Math, I'm not bad to begin with (probably able to get 800 if not for stupid mistakes) and Writing imo is the easiest to improve on but after a certain point it mostly comes down to the essay (every 2 points on 12 point scale = 30 points for writing section) and I'm a bad writer so heh. For CR, the part I spend 70% of my time studying for, only increased a measly 130 and it was crappy as hell to begin with...so yeah CR is by far the hardest imo. Good luck though it seems like you have the potential to increase your sat score by a vast amount, just study hard but I wouldnt take classes.

This may be slightly off-topic, since everybody else has given good SAT tips (I'd recommend the Blue Book and Princeton Review personally), but focus on your dedication to your family's business if you don't have many ECs. Also, the fact that you're trilingual will be looked upon with favor, I think. I'm a first-generation Indian immigrant (moved here when I was five, though), and I'm tragically not bilingual, so that's really cool. Good luck!

I had to work all the time, with a full IB courseload.
I tried my best to study and work to achieve more. I could've done better, regret.
Thanks everyone.

What he says is true. Speaking multiple languages is EXTREMELY useful, especially to companies who want people to go on business trips and such.

On August, I took SAT and got 775 in Math, 680 in Writing, but 540 in CR. I will take SAT again in Oct. Now, I's kinda doing practices the same way as Lolilaugh do. It kinda work. Raise my CR score up to 600 now. I gotta do more practice on CR

Thats really weird. I know for the lower scores, at around 500-600, you can get numbers ending in 5, but I have never seen that on an upper tier score.

Our teachers were IB certified, but we had to fund the program by ourselves. Now our school is an official IB world school, but we took IB classes.

Hearing about success stories isn't going to increase your score.
What's going to increase your score is your progress and results you receive from the practice tests you take.
