Hi.
I took the SAT as a sophomore for a program and not for college. Will it look bad if I take it 3 more times for actual college applications or should I only take it 2 more times?

Well, it really depends if you take it the first time and get a 1660 but you know that you have been getting 2100s on practice tests than you should retake it but if you get a 2150 and you usual practice test scores are around 2170 then there isn’t much different between those two scores. According to College Board taking it three times is average I wouldn’t stress as long as it is on a upwards trend.

There’s no three times rule. You’re unlikely to get a higher score on a fourth or subsequent test taken in the normal 18-month window. It’s discouraged as a waste of time and money, is all.

Sorry, to add to Ally’s response I would say that for example if you take the test twice and a get a 2150 then 2170 chances are you will probably score in that range if you took it a third time.

I appreciate it. I am going to have about 1 year to prepare for the next one. Based on that score, I will determine if I need to take it again, or 2 more times. Thank you allyphoe and NJHopeful95.
