So below is my SAT schedule that i'm going to start tomorrow. I have nothing else to do since its summer so I have a lot of time and i'm doing other stuff besides whats in this schedule such as reviewing Algebra 2, and some other stuff. I plan to do whats in the schedule almost EVERY day. SO....HERES MY SCHEDULE:

Every Day

Math: Start Gruber Math Workbook at "How To Use This Book Most Effectively" and do about 10 pages every day, until the end of the book.

Writing: Start Barron's 2400 writing section and do about 10 to 15 pages every day.

Reading: Start Direct Hits and memorize about 20 words every day.
Do RR reading for about 30 to 40 minutes every day.

So what do you guys think about my SAT schedule that im going to start?...and what else do you think I can do to improve my score, and/or what other material or books do you think I should get to raise my score.

I'M OPEN TO ANY/EVERY SUGGESTION(S)!!!!!!!

um… the thing I found that helped me the most was to practice. I went through all of the BB tests and went through several others. After completing the tests, I went over my mistakes so that I wouldnt make them again. You should put in at least 2 tests per week. Also, I just took the SAT for June and the Direct Hits helped me out a lot. People were saying that the vocab was really hard, but with the two volumes under my belt, I was able to fly through the vocab. Good luck!!

@Yuppie I got my copy for only about 20 or 25 dollars… bit i think mine is a different edition but I dont think it really matters…I know i got it for around 25 to 20 bucks because my parents would never let me get a book that costs above 30 dollars let alone 55 dollars.

From my experience, I didn’t bother with any of the section-specific review books (like Direct Hits, for example).

I did, however, run through every single test in Barron’s, PR, and BB under test-like conditions, then reviewing my incorrect answers and rereading my essays. This was all during the summer, in time for the October SAT.

Yeah, I guess I lucked out a bit on the vocabulary, because I just happened to guess 2 of them correctly, but hey, a 2400 is a 2400. :P

In any case, best of luck! I think the most important thing is perseverance, haha

Those are the exact same books I’m using!!! You mustve looked at aussietechie’s thread haha. the only thing I’d suggest doing is reading fiction, classic novels and newspaper or magazine articles to help provide you with examples for the essay!
For example, I’ll be reading:
-scarlet letter (nathaniel hawthorne)
-pride and prejudice (jane austen)
-heart of darkness (conrad)
-walden (thoreau)
…and TIME magazine (and NYTimes)
hope that helps ;)

@kingkongrc when you say you reviewed all your incorrect answers after you took practice tests, how did you specifically study for the math section…like once you understood why you were wrong, what did you do…did you retake the section a couple of days later or did you do something else…just curious to know. :)

@ruthie2012 yea i looked at aussitechie’s guide and that’s where I got the list of books from
Also when you read TIME magazine and NYTimes how are you going to read it…like are you going to read it and just look up the words or are you going to analyze each article or story…i just want to know so I can start reading NYT and TIME effectively for the SAT.

@livelikeali: Well, I think math is one of my stronger subjects in general, so most of my mistakes were careless. When I was reviewing incorrect answers, I kept note of what kinds of careless mistakes I was making (for example, not reading the entire question, or adding wrong).

Any questions I missed, I redid to make sure I knew where I had gone wrong.

And in my opinion, reviewing the math sections will probably be more effective than completing that math workbook (although it certainly can’t hurt).

TAKE BOTH tests! Take them each 3 times. No MAX.
SAT (General), plus at list 2 SAT (Subject Tests)
ACT

Please, Study hard for SATs and ACT, write good essays during the application process!
SATs and ACT score is very, very important extremely important for admission!

I did Princeton review lasses, improved my score by 200 +, but also i would HIGHLY RECCOMAND TAKING SAT CLASSES ESP FROM KAPLAN, OR PRINCETON REVIEW.
