my sat

took it in may, got a 2290.

I had 750 CR, 740 M,800 W (9 essay)

I just wanted to know if having lower CR and M scores than W, puts me at a disadvantage. i.e. If another kid had a 2290 but an 800 in CR or M, would he/she be given preference over me? Hypothetically, of course.

I have the same score with the same breakdown! I would say no because with the exception of MIT and Cornell, there is no indication that all of the scores aren’t weighted equally. Where do you want to go to college?

I know the feeling of pride that comes from having that score.

Haha, Congrats to you too! Yeah, it felt GREAT when I opened up my CB account and saw these!

My username is kinda indicative, no? :p

Haha it does give one a feeling of security.

I am applying SCEA to Stanford but also to ivies and some state schools. I also want to apply to Oxford for some reason cause I hear they have good biology.

You shouldn’t be at a disadvantage. You’re going to have a lowest score, regardless (unless you score the same on every section). It’s like saying the set of SAT scores is mathematically well-ordered ([Well Ordered Set – from Wolfram MathWorld](Well Ordered Set -- from Wolfram MathWorld))

Also, a lot of colleges are using the 2400 scale instead of the 1600.

Oh ok, yeah I’m also thinking about Stanford and the Ivies and deciding just which ones to apply to apart from my mathes and safeties. Yup, I’m also applying to Oxford, but for Law.

What’s your college list?

I’m also thinking of applying EA to Chapel Hill and/or Michigan in addition to SCEA Princeton.

Thanks rspence! yeah I know most colleges do use the 2400 scale but I’ve heard that some value writing less than CR and Math.

I am applying to:

Stanford (EA)
Berkeley
Michigan (EA)
Harvard
Cornell
UNCCH
Oxford
MIT
Wisconsin
Pomona
Harvey Mudd
Johns Hopkins
Illinois

omg thats really similar to mine.

Princeton (EA)
Harvard
Michigan (EA)
UNCCH (maybe EA)
Cornell
Penn
Wash U
Pomona
Amherst
Berkeley
Macalester
CMC
Hamilton
Carleton

I might do UCLA too, because I like it and the app is the same as Berkeley so no work to be done really.

oh yeah all the UCs.

agh it’s so hardd though still havent finalized the listt i love so many places it’s ■■■■■■■■.

haha i don’t care to narrow down my list. it’s folly how long it is.

yeah my complete unabridged unnarrowed list is 20 schools. yes, bad.
