So I go to a very challenging school, and they calculate GPA differently than most. For example, you could get an A in every class and still not get a perfect 4.0 (unweighted). They count the A+ as perfect 4.0's and the A's like most HS would count and A-. So is my GPA going to look worse on a college app or will the admissions officers be aware of the discrepancy?

Your HS will provide a school profile which outlines how GPAs are calculated and your class rank. Even if they don’t provide rank the colleges can infer it based on the info provided. Don’t worry.

Many colleges either holistically look at the grades on the transcript, or recalculate the GPA their own way, rather than comparing GPAs calculated in different ways by different high schools.
