I heard that the school canceled my major last week because they had to cut courses (economics crisis). I don't have too much time ahead and I don't want to change my major. I am worried because some of the colleges want a recommendation letter to support my "why do you want to transfer" but the school does not want to let me go.I talked to one of my teachers, he will try to help me but the school itself has to transfer part of my scholarship. Without the money, I can't make a move.

well, first of all, this is a compelling reason to transfer. What is your major? Is it something like Leisure studies or Africana studies? (rare majors).

Wait - the school doesn’t want you to go but they cut your major? Well, they can’t exactly stop you from transferring, they have no choice but to send your transcripts, and they can’t physically stop your prof from sending a reccomendation, so I don’t see the problem. Why don’t they want you to leave? Are you a star athlete or genius or something? It’s ridiculous they cut your major and expect you to stay.

If you’re smart, there’s other scholarships at other schools. Apply to “safety” schools which will take you and offer money.

Be very careful, because in reality, there is very little merit $ available for transfer students. Scholarship $$ is almost exclusively used to entice top freshman applicants to commit to a college.

It will be hard if not, impossible , as a transfer student to get $. The chair of my ex-major is willing to support me and send my rec letters, now my worries is about the money.
