I need to know what do you think about this curriculum.
my school is accredited by the ABET and the professors seem to be good enough despite I have not started classes yet :)

is Multi.Calculus the same of calculus III ? or what? :D

Semesters 1, 2 are typical.
Semester 3 seems fishy. Why Diff Eq and Calc III in parallel?
Semester 5 a bit hard
Semester 6 easier than I thought

Overall, looks pretty typical. I assume you’ll be taking summer courses and staying in Cleveland - take what you can take in summers to lighten course load.

Good to see heavy (heavier than other places) emphasis on writing. Hopefully you’ll meet a cute English major (*)…

(*) my wife was cute but was not an English major, but we met in ENG 102…

I hope so :D

do you think that will cause problems?

Not the math per se, but 5 serious classes in one semester… I’d do my best to take, say, Matrices for Engineers or Calc III during the summer if offered and take a Mickey Mouse elective of some kind.

What does your advisor say?

I mean, EE is one of the hardest majors. There’s no way to make it easy, really.

Yikes! Maybe he’ll meet a cute engineering major. Or maybe he will meet but she will think he is not “cute”.
What decade is this???

Based on extensive field research in several engineering schools over several decades in two continents, all the cute engineering majors are generally spoken for (malloc’d for y’all C programmers :D)) by second semester…

@BeanTownGirl:
 trust me ,most girls who meet me think I am cute.

I am looking to make it easy at all.
I love EE and I don’t think it will be hard for me (I think Law school or Med school are too way harder for me).

Only way to make it easier is 5 years or 4 + summers, no work, and little social life.

How many hours do they have you doing first year? I’m guessing new student orientation is a 1 hour course, so total 14 first semester and 13 second semester? The overall hours seem a bit lower than at some other schools but topics may be combined at your school so a direct comparison is not always possible.

the first semester is 15 credits and the 2nd semester is 15 too.

the program total hours are 129.

What is the required minimum number of units per semester?

C programming for an EE freshman is not critical. You probably won’t use it until your 3rd year/4rd year (needed for EEC 417). And you may forget what you learn by the 3rd year if you don’t continue to use in the 2nd year.

You can take Chem in a different semester if it’s allowed. This is one of the killer classes for freshmen, especially if you sit in the same class with the premed guys. This class is not important for EE major.

I took Calc 3, Diff Eq, and Physics 2 all in the same semester and walked away with an A in both math classes, and a B in Physics 2. It’s doable, if you work hard and stay focused.

True, but what were the other classes you had in that not-so-pleasant semester? The OP has Circuits and MatCalc, and both can be major time sinks, esp. Circuits.

Another issue to consider is cost of summer vs regular semester, and availability of courses. Most large schools offer lots of courses in the summer, and depending on how you play the game, it can be financially beneficial (if you’ll be there for summer anyway).

In DD1’s case she’s taking 2 classes over summer (summer 1 and summer 2) and while the cost of per credit OOS is obscene, her scholarship kicks in additional money which makes it a lot more affordable… On the other hand, taking DiffEq or Phys2 over an 8 or 10 week summer could be hairy… That’s where having a network in the OP’s school helps.

I just checked CSU and they offer some decent stuff in summer, Calc I, II, and Phys I, II and probably Chem. A non-critical path class like Chem could be taken in the summer and schedule shifted a bit to make things easier… It’s all very school dependent tho. If the summer courses are taught by some random TA dude with an accent worse than mine…

I didn’t take anything else, as it was unavailable at my school. I still had enough time to have a social life, and wasn’t studying every day. It may be possible to get through what he has planned for semester 3, but it won’t be fun. No social life, and lots of studying. But, adapt and overcome! Live to win! No paid, no gain! Etc, etc…

I think I am gonna take Chem in Summer.

True. I’m sorry if it hurts anybody’s feelings but this is true in 95% of cases.

Try hanging out near Knowlton Hall :D, Tom…

That uggo architecture building? Are you saying it will prove me wrong or confirm what I believe?
