<p>Another issue to consider is cost of summer vs regular semester, and availability of courses. Most large schools offer lots of courses in the summer, and depending on how you play the game, it can be financially beneficial (if you’ll be there for summer anyway). </p>
<p>In DD1’s case she’s taking 2 classes over summer (summer 1 and summer 2) and while the cost of per credit OOS is obscene, her scholarship kicks in additional money which makes it a lot more affordable… On the other hand, taking DiffEq or Phys2 over an 8 or 10 week summer could be hairy… That’s where having a network in the OP’s school helps. </p>
<p>I just checked CSU and they offer some decent stuff in summer, Calc I, II, and Phys I, II and probably Chem. A non-critical path class like Chem could be taken in the summer and schedule shifted a bit to make things easier… It’s all very school dependent tho. If the summer courses are taught by some random TA dude with an accent worse than mine…</p>
