Hello! I have a question regarding UW GPA and my school’s grading system. I go to a private school where a 92.5 and up is considered an A, and an 86-92.4 is a B. This past year, my school changed our grading scale again, and now a 92.5-94.5 is an A-, a 95-98 is an A, and a 99-100 is an A+. My current UW GPA is somewhere around a 3.83-3.85 with these systems.
What I am confused about is that, in my area, all the public schools have a grading scale where a 90-100 is an A, an 80-89 is a B, and so on. I have only gotten one grade below a 90, so my UW GPA at one of the other schools in my area would be roughly a 3.9-3.95… On paper, my GPA would look lower as compared to a public schooler in my area who got the exact same grades as me- do colleges account for this (does my school transcript include percentages and a grading scale, or just the letter grade)? Thank you in advance!
Your school will submit a school profile to colleges and universities that show your school’s grading scale. Most admission counselors are well aware that many private schools use different grading standards. You will not be directly compared to schools that use a different grading scale. You don’t have anything to worry about.
