Maybe they would have less debt if they didn’t spend billions of $$$ every year building palaces in Rome, protesting condoms in Africa, and covering up child rape cases. :)</p>
<p>Did the Baltimore diocese recently build a palace in Rome? The child molestation cases have been the main cause of most dioceses’ debts and have led to situations like these. It’s really a sad situation all around.</p>
<p>I was refering to the Church in general, not the Baltimore diocese specifically. In retrospect, my comment was probably a tad over-the-top. Just the embittered product of 6 years in Catholic Elementary school ;)</p>

<p>Woo!!! We had a huge protest today in front of the Catholic Center. We all kinda ditched school at 9:00 and we all drove down there. It was just a huge convoy of Gibbons students. A Bishop (not the Archbishop) actually agreed to speak to 10 of us. They said they could hear us from outside. 3 cops showed up, but they just stood around, laughed, and left after about a half hour.</p>

<p>I mean yeah, at least the land is going to a hospital, and at least it will help out who knows how many people. But I doubt that that’s real reason why your school is now closing.</p>

<p>exactly why education and religious administration should not even be close (atleast in catholicism). Religious setting and instruction is fine. But its sad to see so many schools close… you shouldnt blame the poor sap, its the big dog at the vatican is who you should be mad at (IMPEACH HIM lol In addition to being completely incompetent about the bigger religion a la “Prophet Muhammad spread islam by the sword” ***h?). The bank roll doesnt look too pretty at the Holy See, probably relied too heavily on mortgage-backed securities or Interest-based Derivatives
