My School is Goint to have Uniforms

Every public school in my city (and surrounding) has uniforms except maybe one or two.
(And I'm a private school kid- so we have uniforms with plaid skirts as well...)

I actually like uniforms. They make my life easier at 6:30am. And anything that makes my life easier that hour of the morning is a good thing.

Uniforms really aren't as bad as you might think. I had to make the adjustment last year from normal clothes to uniforms when I entered the Catholic high school I'm in now. It's nice to not have to deal with picking out clothes for the day, and everyone basically looks the same. People aren't trying to outdo each other either (the majority of the time).

That being said, I do miss the ability to wear a hoody and jeans to school. But as long as it's comfortable (which my school uniforms are), I don't mind.

I love clothes and dressing up when you feel like it. But just think how great it will be to not have to worry about if you've already worn an outfit or whatever and just be able to have a set uniform. If you're worried about losing your individuality wear a headscarf or a really cute ribbon belt. Just make it work for you :)

Well, I'm Indian, and pretty much all schools here have uniforms (except the international schools).

wxmann, i wasn't being sarcastic. there really is a way to edit the title ( like you said, edit, and then go advanced).

yeah, I know you weren't. ;) I was talking about the post you quoted.

i wouldn't really mind uniform atleast these kids don't gotta wry about fashion
but i don't really prefer uniform bczu i feel more comfortable in my reg clothes

ish- uniforms become pretty comfy after you realize that you don't have to look 100% in them (it happens when everyone's wearing the same thing...)
I usually end up staying in my uniform until after dinner out of shear lazyness (and that I usually don't notice I'm wearing a uniform) (and switching to pajamas...)

awesome...I actually wish my school had uniforms...would save a ton of money :P

i always wanted to go to a school with uniforms

Uniforms would be pretty cool. :D

Uniforms really aren't that bad. Like a few people said before, it really takes a load off your mind when you don't have to constantly worry about keeping in style and it discourages fights/confrontations/competition based on clothes. It kinda puts everyone on a level playing field. I at least appreciate it because I can't afford really trendy clothes, haha. If you don't have that problem it could be different I guess.
Just give the uniform thing a shot.

I had to wear a uniform for 5 years... they are far from cool.

If you have to worry about the style of clothing you're wearing, you're trying way too hard. It's very easy to look good without constantly thinking about style. And if it's difficult for you, you probably weren't meant to be stylish in the first place (seriously).

Well...I wear a uniform and I don't consider it bad at all..It makes life alot easier.

i've always wanted to go to a school with uniforms. i think japanese uniforms are pretty cool (and oxfords too)

What's with you people being okay with uniforms?!? I've been wearing them for a really long time now...

Uhh...11 freaking years...

Remind me, what are the benefits? Like Armando said, if you're that worried about style, you're trying too hard.

And how does it save money!?!? If you don't have uniforms, at least you can wear your school clothes out. It's like 80 bucks a year for the bare minimum at my school. I don't know about you guys, but I don't spend that much money on clothes. Even if you do, you wouldn't appreciate not being able to wear them when you go out.

"at least you can wear your school clothes out."

Where I live, it's not uncommon to see all the kids in stores with there uniforms still on (mon-fri).
My reason for liking them has nothing to do with style or money- as I said, it just takes an extra hassle out of my morning.

Let's reverse it: unleasedfury- what are the downsides of uniforms?

Goint?

That made me laugh inside.

For me, fashion and stuff isn't a big deal and I couldn't care less about it, so it's somewhat annoying being forced to spend nearly $100 every year on something I don't want in the first place. Actually wearing them at school isn't too bad, but that depends on your school. Some schools can be very anal about uniforms to the point of inspecting socks. i would know. Besides that, there's no individuality. If you care about comfort, you'll also see why uniforms aren't the best idea.

What baffles me is the school's perspective. Do they really think having their students wear uniforms is somehow beneficial? I can answer for them that it's not. There's absolutely no correlation between who follows the dress code and what their grade is, whether or not they do drugs, whether or not they get into fights, etc.

Totally pointless, IMO.

I like my uniforms. I don't know what I'll do in college, when I actually have to pick out clothes for myself!

My uniform's been good since I got it (them) back a few years ago, so I only had to pay once...

One of my teachers likes to say that if students have something pointless to rebel against (ie uniforms), more serious rebelling is quelled/nonexistent...
It makes sense, but may not be entirely true for why uniforms are required.

Personally, I think my uniform is rather comfy (and my school checks socks religiously).
