My school shows both weighted and unweighted class ranks?

Which one will top colleges use? Or will they look at both?

My weighted rank is #1, but because a bunch of kids took easy class, my unweighted rank is only #15 or so... Out of 540 people.

I would use the weighted. The colleges will too because they want to see weight for AP vs. honors v. regular. I think unweighted rankings are meaningless because a student with As in regular classes could beat a student with 10 AP classes because he got 1 or 2 Bs (and I think colleges feel the same way). You can call an adcom and find out

College look at both weighted and unweighted GPA’s but only the WEIGHTED class rank for the reason you mentioned.

Do you think they will suspect that I have an inflated GPA because of the disparity between the two ranks? I really wish my school just listed weighted…

They’ll look at both. Having a higher W than UW is common, and top colleges will see it for what it is. Your rigor will be rewarded.

I know a kid who was #3 W and #23 UW in her class, and was accepted ED by a top 10 school.
