Hey guys,

I'm a rising senior and I'm taking AP Stat at my school next year (I plan to major in Psychology). I'm a year behind in math and took Alg 2 as a junior (I didn't take the math placement test as a freshman and they stuck me in Algebra 1...)
I'm currently taking Precalculus in the mornings before I go to work and so far I have around a 95% in that class.
However, they won't let me take Calculus next year, which makes me mad. I'm applying to some pretty selective schools next year, and though I don't plan on using math in my major, I feel like it lowers my chances of getting in if I don't have calculus.
My dream schools are Stanford (God forbid...my whole family went there though, and ive always wanted to go there), Wesleyan, and Rice.
What can I do? :/

By the way, my senior schedule is:
AP Biology
AP English Lit
AP Stat
Intensive Classical Greek (sort of like an AP Greek cept minus the AP test)
Mandarin 3 H
Psychology/Prayer and Meditation(required to take a religion course)
English 4 Honors (I love English so I’m doubling on it)

Finish the course you’re taking. Get the results, bring it to the calculus teacher and the precalc teacher (ideally together), and ask if you can take last year’s pre-calc final to demonstrate that you know it as well as they expect their students to know it.

If that fails, community college courses.

But is there any way to finish a community college course before I submit my college app?

I’m telling you, these guys are adamant. :/

Unlikely, but you do list courses in progress on the application. You can get a proof of enrollment or an in-progress transcript if you need to and submit it as “supplementary” information. Talk to an advisor in the admissions department at the schools you are applying to. I’m sure they’ve heard even stranger cases before.
