My sister goes to vanderbilt university so will that help my chances getting in there

vanderbilt is definitely a reach school for me. but my sister goes there (she will be a second year in sept.) and was wondering if her being there helps my chances. i know its not legacy but does that count?

Sibling legacy is probably a very slight hook, but due to the volume of applications it probably won’t have much of an effect (I doubt for many that was the push that got them in)

Vanderbilt generally likes to have siblings and they made a point to state this to our younger son when he was considering schools (his brother went to Vandy as he does now). If you are certain Vanderbilt is your top choice and since your family knows how they are with financial support (if applicable) you might consider ED which would provide an additional advantage. If you do this you must be certain that Vanderbilt is your top choice. Keep in mind that admissions is very tough and seems that it will only keep getting tougher. Best of luck.

It could. It varies from school to school as to what the consideration is for siblings.
