My son can't post his College Visit reports

After we returned from last week's college visit road trip, I was anxious to get Son to post his impressions of the three schools he visited. But none of them are on CC's list. I filled out the "suggest a college" form, but it's been a week and our schools have not been added. Is it because they aren't Ivies or "top tier" schools? I know that by definition, this site is supposed to be for elite school admissions, but I think lots of people would benefit from reading about "lesser" schools as well.

What schools are they?

Yeah, I know there's a bit of a disconnect for me when you read constantly on here that HYPS is a reach for everyone and so you need to consider some state schools or other safeties, but there's not much on here about that category of schools.

For now, have him write it up like ChiSquare did.

Missypie I have suggested 3 schools and only one of them came up w/ both a forum and a college visit link, another has a forum now and the third request has gone unacknowledged. I don't know what criteria are used for determining what schools get on and what don't. The one I suggested that got both a forum and a vist link is the least well known and though it has some innovative programs and is a great school I would have thought that the other two which are both ranked WAY higher would have received the same attention. Sorry I have no answers just a shared and equally baffling experience.

I typed up a report on the schools we visted that didn't have forums and posted it in the parents and search and selection forums. Good Luck!

Historymom, I think if several people request to add a college, it will be done. I see that Linfield now has its own forum :)

The schools were Abilene Christian, Oklahoma City University and University of Tulsa. I found out about OCU and TU on this board. TU gets lots of mentions here as a hidden gem.

One person from ds's school is going to OCU in the fall. I'd never heard of it, so I'd love to hear what you and ds thought!

Oklahoma City and ACU I can understand because you can't have everybody listed but Tulsa? That has to be a mistake or oversight.

Tulsa is the USNWR 91st Ranked National Doctoral University and it's small size brings something quite unique to theat "nat doc" table (especially for NMF's ;)).

I wrote a college visit report probably 3 months ago, and even thought there was a link to the school name on the college visits pages (with no prior reports), it has never been posted.

Again, a small, specialized engineering school that is definitely not 1st, 2nd or 3rd tier, but still might be of interest to someone.

here's a thought for the CC administrators: what about adding an additional forum for "Other Schools" to the colleges forum which was subdivided by state, where you could post about any school in a given state? I understand that not enough viewers might read/post in many of the lower tier schools to warrant their own forum, but this could be a good resource to research schools regionally especially some of the hidden gems - which even many CC students do for their safeties and matches!

scansmom, post your idea in "Community and Forum Issues" (which is where we are supposed to be having this discussion BTW. ;) ). It's great idea.

That is a great idea. If 50 states are too many, at least by region? Or maybe ay least add a 40 CTCL forum (though I guess there might be copyright issues there)? Just thinking of some way to get more schools on here ...

I think that a "catch-all" forum (or regional forums) for lesser known schools is a great idea. I was actually that my H's and my alma mater wasn't included as a forum, even though threads about it crop up from time to time.
