Has anyone had this problem? this now goes on his record. He is finishing his Freshman year a private university in Texas and is a very good student. Please help.
The new school is just going to be concerned with whether he’s in good academic standing. A deferred suspension is just a warning, but otherwise is in good academic standing. He should be fine to transfer. If he gets caught smoking pot in his room a second time, then he might lose his good academic standing.
Agreed with the previous poster. One “write-up” from res life isn’t going to affect transferring. A lot of states have legalized pot and probably wouldn’t care anyway.
Thank you. I was told it wont go on his transcript but if the new college asks whether he has had a disciplinary violation they will have to say what happened. Wake Forest however told me that they would not accept him because of this. But that school is very conservative and only had 30 transfer spots.
How is question worded regarding transgressions? I don’t think colleges ask. I know kids who did time for drugs transfer to other colleges. Selective ones too. After getting kicked out of the first college
The Common App asks if one was ever on a conduct probation at the current school. Wake asked for the Dean of Students to fill out a form relating to this.
