My son's application status?

Couple Days ago, I checked my son's application status, and the status indicated "HOLD". What is that mean? My son has recieved congressional nomination. Please help.

The "HOLD" is a good thing. It generally means they have everything, but are not yet in a position to grant the appointment just yet. Sit tight and wait. Patience is a virtue.

Thank you so much for your reply.

I have the exact problem, my people here told me that HOLD means good thing. I was even told that you have 95% chance or above to get an appointment to USMMA. so hang in there. good luck

thank you!! tlswogh89

son was a "hold" for a long time. now class of 2011
just as everyone says, it is a good thing.

Son went from alternate to hold to principle all within one day. First time I ever felt faint. Keep the smelling salts handy. :D Good luck people!!

We went for open house visit, thinking son's status was 'HOLD'. :(

Checked with someone, who said 'No. He's been an alternate for quite a while', but list was not current.
Verified with admission, Nope. 'Principal'. :)
ME: "no. No, I think his status is Hold".
Admissions: "No sir, my list is accurate as of today, he is the principal"

:D :D :D (happy feet)

OK. So, the little imaginary guy sitting on my shoulder is saying "Don't contradict the very nice admissions person who is standing in front of you saying 'You're kid is IN'. Say 'thank you very much for this information', smile, go find your kid and have HIM ask and get the same reply.. The batteries in the camera ARE charged, aren't they?" Sheesh. sometimes parents can be SOO dense.

I'm not proud of it, but it IS what it IS.

The staff have been exceedingly nice, helpful, and understanding. Some things take time gather, organize, confirm, publish, etc.

Call (kid, not parents) any admissions contacts you'd like... they have been the most informative and understanding group I've run into in a while.

ok, since we now officially have candidates for 2012 I think it's time we parents start the Recognize 2011 Chant.

Recognize 2011 :D

In April .

I vote for March!!! ha ha!

How about you get out of your son’s life and let him be independent. He is, after all, leaving for college next year, it’s time you let him handle his own stuff.

@ThatGuyMike: Do you even read things before you reply/comment? This thread is over two years old? It started about appointments and had people asking intelligernt questions abouyt what the status they can read on line about their appointments mean. Further last I knew the Class of 2011 and 2012 have been recognized for some time, probably a good thing since the 2012 B splits will be departing campus for their second sea year in a couple of weeks…I hope you are a snipe because with your powers of observation and attention to detail it’s seems to me you’d probably miss more than a few radar targets while on bridge watch…
