My son's chances at UC schools

<p>My son's stats are
UC GPA 3.7
Wtd GPA 3.9
Unweighted GPA 3.4</p>

<p>SAT - 700M, 690 CR, 570W: 1960
SAT II 690 US History 650 Math IIC (retaking) and Bio (december)</p>

<p>ACT (in december) - around 32-33</p>

<p>ECs 200+ Volunteer Hours.
Shadowed a doctor in New Jersey
Worked at a Dental Practice over the summer
Volunteered at a pediatricians office.
Field Hockey
High School Roller Hockey team (JV)
High School Tennis team (JV and V)</p>

<p>What are his chances at the UC schools?

<p>His GPA is a bit weak, his SATs are okay, and his ECs are slightly weak, though the volunteer work and work experience are good.</p>

UCSD: slight reach - reach
UCSB/UCD/UCI: high match - match
UCSC/UCR/UCM: safe match</p>

<p>but with a 33 and higher SAT II scores he can go from a reach with UCLA to a slight reach/match, so tell him to work hard for it haha.</p>

<p>Yeah, I really would try to study hard for those SAT IIs. It's a perversity of the process, but they are much more important than his high school grades he earns this semester.</p>
