My sophomore year for 1st semester didn't go well...

I made the mistake of prioritizing only one class and afterschool activities and I now have three C’s currently, and a GPA of 2.79. I’m not sure how much it’ll change since I’m still taking finals and I know there’s a possibility it’ll change. I’m talking to two of my teachers (one of them promised to curve the finals and didn’t) so hopefully I can get at least one of them to a B. However, my question is how effed up am I? If I do get my grades up last minute, I can bump my GPA up to a 2.83 at least and a 3.0 at most. If it’s a 3.0, I’m not too worried about, but would it seriously screw me over if I got a 2.83? If I work hard enough and get the 3.33 GPA I got in freshman year, how would that look in colleges?

It all depends where you are trying to go. I have lots of friends in the 2.5 gpa range and they had no problem getting into their college of choice, which happened to be one of the lower level state colleges. If you’re trying to go somewhere competitive, then you probably have hurt your chances, but not ruined them, if you bring it up.

What kind of colleges are you talking about here? It is difficult to say out of context.

For colleges, I’m looking at all the ones that offer an animal behavior major or any major similar to that. I’m nowhere near Ivy League, so that’s out of the question, but there are a bundle of colleges/universities I’m seeing that need at least a 3.5 GPA.

If you got any more questions, please ask. I’m getting nervous with my grades…
