At about 11:45 (when lunch starts) about 500-600 kids, which is about a quarter of the campus, began to march towards the gates. We have a closed campus so no one is allowed out. There was a protest just like this today and there were just police from our city, however, today we had SWAT teams and police from 3 adjacent cities. They had every road closed off surrounding our high school, there were soooooo many police officers and SWAT members in riot gear today.

So 10 minutes after lunch started, our school went into lockdown. We had to report to our next period classes, the loudspeaker person kept ordering us to go like every 30 seconds or "face the consequences". I just barely got my lunch so I just chilled with my friends. All of a sudden, the riots from one side of the campus started running. It turned out that the kids broke the gate down and the riot police began to shoot pepper spray bombs and shooting their paint ball guns at the kids.

It was pretty funny, but they just went to the next gate across campus. I got locked out of my class so I had to report to a room with my friends so we "wouldn't attempt to join the riot." Lots of kids also came in, with their eyes puffy and red... haha owned by pepper spray.

They let us out of school 45 minutes early, with police escorting us out in small groups. SWAT members surrounded the campus and they all the roads blocked. Tons of plastic cuffs....

in my opinion these "striking" individuals are not really fighting for the cause, at least most of them, they just see this as an opportunity to ditch even more school and worsen their already poor record. Most of them aren't collegebound anyways.

A SWAT SUV passed by my school. The situation didn't get too out of hand, but the administrators had to threaten the kids with "You will be suspended! Your senior privileges will be revoked!" etc etc.

It sucks to say that but it's true. I watch the news and see these kids throw up gang signs and smile for the camera. Serious ***.

people at our school were supposed to walk out today. our head principal got on the annoucements in the morning and was like, "do not attepmt to walk out, or you will be penalized to the fullest extent of the school policy." then he went on to list about 10 different things he'd give to students if they tried to leave (insubordination, so on and so on).
throughout the whole day, there were 1-2 administrators/cops at every entrance/exit of the school. for off periods, they were screening everyone who was exiting. at lunch, the cops randomly stapped at us for standing up. it was odd.
i heard that some kids got out, but i also heard that some got cuffed.
all in all, there were just a lot more cops on duty at our school (we usually have one). other than that, nothing really happened.
