That range was just an example. I didn't mean it literally. :)

Those are good scores. I don't think Exeter will care much about Verbal, because as you said, they are more math-oriented. If the rest of your application is solid, I think you're fine.

Chaos -- I don't think an 800 in math would be 93%. Are you referring to the percent correct? That is not your overall percentile score relative to other test takers. I think the original percent scores you posted are the correct ones if you got a 97% relative to other test takers and not the national norms. Remember, you can get some wrong and still get 99%.
Olivia -- I concluded that they do add up all the scores, and they give those scores a percent relative to other test takers. Test takers who scores highly on all 3 tests are given a boost in the %. I concluded that this is because there are a number of test takers who do not score highly on all 3 tests. Please note that these are my own conclusions.

<quote>Test takers who scores highly on all 3 tests are given a boost in the %.</quote>

That really does make sense. I noticed that, because while my friends and I got some high 90s, we got higher than we should have and my friend who got a 89, 74, and 68 only got a 74 average.

dont worry about a 86 or whatever no your vocab... If yoru essay and recomendations show differnetly it will not matter, remember these test are subjective and hte admissions officers know that. How you do on one day at 8 in the morning doesn't nessisarily show what kind of student you nomraly are. Also none of these schools want grade grubers so i wouldn't retake the test ebcause they can see how many times you have taken it. The only reason i would retake if I hd your scores would be if I thouhgt my writen section wasn't plausable....

i got a 95% on my ssat - average i guess.
anybody who is fretting about their ssat scores shouldnt worry too much - ssat scores arent a big part of the admissions process. i know someone who got into all 7 of their schools (andover, exeter, groton, deerfield, ect. ect.) with an 80 something percent.

jacmoo, that is an excellent score. Average is 50th percentile. 95th is fantastic.
How much SSAT scores are weighted does depend on the school, and whom you talk to. An Andover admissions person told me that they matter hugely, but other people who attended or work at Andover say the opposite. Kind of hard to say, I guess.

It is odd. However, if you got almost all your reading questions correct, that might yield a very high raw score for reading which when added to the other 2 raw scores resulted in a 99%. The 99% is based on the 3 raw scores combined, not the percents.
