My status changed.....

As a prospective student receiving your AA degree or 60 credits in addition to your high school diploma, we will be reviewing your college GPA, and the completion of prerequisite courses for your major, along with other pertinent information for transfer admission. Your major is very important in the transfer review process. Please contact the Office of Admissions immediately if you need to add or change your major.

We appreciate your patience as we continue to evaluate your college-level coursework.

Sincerely,
Office of Admissions
University of Florida

Does this mean I got denied as a Freshman?

Was this under the “Check Application Status” link? Like, it took over your page? It does not sound like a denial! It seems they are just looking more into it. There’s hope yet! :)

so… you applied to UF as a freshman with more than 60 hours through I am guessing Dual Enrollment? I will have like 38 hours at the end of this semester… I wonder if I will get the same letter?

Nah this is what every concurrent high school/ AA applicant gets.

[UF Admissions](<a href=“Transfer - How to Apply - University of Florida”>Transfer - How to Apply - University of Florida)

I have the same message. Did you actually take the prerequisite courses for your major?

yup
every single one

Well I just couldn’t complete Bio 1,2, Anatomy 1,2, Calc 1,2,3, Diff equations, Physics 1,2, and Chem 1,2 while volunteering and participating in EC’s.

I completed about half and nearly lost my mind with everything that I had to do. So I basically already have my rejection letter handed to me because they’re holding me up to a higher standard. Nice!

This is from the UF Admissions website. It is pretty darn clear that you have to meet the prereqs for your major if you are graduating high school with an AA degree.

Concurrent High School and AA Degrees

Students who will receive their high school diploma and the Associate of Arts degree at the same time should complete the freshman application. You must apply to a specific UF college and major, and you must meet college and major prerequisite course and minimum GPA requirements.

Thanks for finding that Harriet. I didn’t notice it two years ago but at least I know it’s not something they tell us last minute.

Cassy, I can’t believe your guidance counselors at school didn’t tell you all this. That is who I would be mad at if I were you - the guidance counselors. They should know this information.

yea, my guidance counselor told me to stop taking the DE at junior year and take AP’s instead. She said that it is very tough to get into UF as a transfer. GC’s are like teachers, some are good some are bad.

I was only 15 when I started and I did research UF’s sight to see what they prefer but obviously not enough. My guidance counselor told me from day one that I am his first DE student in all of his years of being at that school. I give him info to pass down to other students whenever something gets screwed up. This is another one of those. I am just so sad right now & all anyone can say is “well I hear FSU has a very great…” I’ll be fine over there though.

I’m in the same boat as you guys(concurrent AA and high school completion), but my status hasn’t changed at all:

So, I have absolutely no idea what this means since everyone else has had their status changed…

JD - what are you stats?

They’re not the best…

ACT:27
Good essay about saving a life.
Quite a few EC
UF GPA: 4.1
Plus, I have 37 registered H/S credits
AA degree(72 credit hours), but I don’t have all the prereqs as I still need Phy 2, Calc3, and Diffy Q.

Still keeping my fingers crossed until 8pm because of a jazz band gig that’s keeping me away from a PC.

Btw, I have taken chem 1+2, bio 1+2, calc 1+2, phy 1, and anatomy 1.

so have I. What’s your point?

I also completed Anatomy II & micro but I didn’t get to finish PHY II or differential equations. I know I tried. I’m taking some prereqs now but will they ever know or care? nope!

No point.
And yea they care if you’re taking the prereqs now. Usually, if you are in the process of completing the prereqs, the college will list a restriction on the classes stating something like “a B or higher in this class is required”.

This is for transfer admissions, which if not accepted as a freshmen, you become involved in.

Oh ok. I also read that If I don’t get accepted the first time, I will automatically be considered a transfer student. I will have my AA by then so going back to a CC to complete the pre requisites is an option but not a desired situation.
