My step-sister graduated from Vanderbilt, does that help?

I have subpar stats compared to what I see on here. 30 ACT, 4.2 WGPA, <9% rank. My step-sister is a Vanderbilt grad with a degree in philosophy or something for prelaw, and she is now a practicing attorney. Does Vandy care much for legacy? Enough to consider it a reach school worth an application come fall?

It helps if you’re already a competitive applicant. Your ACT is below their 25% mark, so if your transcript/ec’s don’t match up, then the legacy factor won’t help. There’s some threads on the topic which you can find here (<a href=“vanderbilt legacy talk.cc site:talk.collegeconfidential.com - Google Search”>vanderbilt legacy talk.cc site:talk.collegeconfidential.com - Google Search)

Look up the Common Data Set for Vandy, section C7, to see what weight legacy status gets.

Thanks guys!

Sibling is not a “legacy”.
