Where do you mention it on your application?

mention what bobtheboy?

No way Michigan Texas A&M and Purdue are low reaches. Not even close. They’re low matches. All the other ivies are a crapshoot.

thanks. how about Carnegie Mellon and Georgia tech?

Idk much about Carnegie Mellon but i’d say your in for GT

bump 10char

bump come one guys i only have a few weeks

Ask your guidance counselor to explain the situation to your colleges. or you might also be able to write an essay yourself in the additional information section of the common app. I’m sure your essay will explain the situation aptly. Your robotics EC is really good ! It will help lot ! Take more SAT II to show ability for science which can make up for your GPA ! and then you’ll be fine !
And dont forget to chance me back ! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1232020-chance-international-student-top-colleges.html

MIT- High reach
Carnegie Mellon University- mid target
Cornell- high target
Columbia- mid reach
Ann Arbor-in
Urbana Champaign-low target
Princeton- high reach ( for everyone)
Texas A&M- in
Purdue - West Lafayette-in
also depends on which major youre applying for !
can you express your opinion on this thread:

Thanks. I am applying for a major in Electrical Engineering and Aerospace.

Your Robotics ECs is pretty awesome, but it might hurt a little that you don’t have a leadership position. Good SATs. Any APs?

This is a complete guess, but:

Reach (10% chance you get into at least one of these. 20% chance if your family is low income)
MIT
Princeton
Columbia

Low Reach (Should get into at least one of these)
Carnegie Mellon University
Cornell

Match (Should get in unless if you do something stupid on your app)
Ann Arbor
Urbana Champaign
Texas A&M
Purdue - West Lafayette

Thanks for the honest response.

Just curious, if you leave home, who will be taking care of your mother?

Sister will be 14 by then. That’s when I started.

10char bumperrr

MIT, Princeton, Columbia: Reach, but better than an average applicant’s chances.

CMU and Cornell: Id say in… but who knows.

Michigan, UIUC, Texas A&M, and Purdue : in.

good scores! and, if you can demonstrate your hook (interest in robotics because of mom), i think youd be a great candidate and im sure the colleges will understand.

Good luck!

Thanks for the great response [=

I wouldn’t be too worried about your GPA considering your test scores and your school as well as your difficulties in highschool. MIT/princeton will be moderate reaches but I would say Cornell would be a low reach. I think you will most likely get into Michigan and Purdue and Texas AM are safeties for sure. Chance me back, from an Indian to another Indian
if you get the chance.

MIT and Princeton aren’t “moderate reaches” for anybody.

As long as you explain yourself, I think the schools should understand.
MIT - reach (for everyone)
Carnegie Mellon University - Target
Cornell - pretty good chance, but again it’s a reach for everyone
Columbia - same as MIT
Princeton - same as MIT & Columbia

I don’t know enough about the other schools to make a real judgment about them! But anyway, you have good scores and it’s obvious you’re a very intelligent and mature individual. I’m sure you’ll be at a great school this time next year!
