Oh you definitely should, collegeguy. And that "when I have free time" excuse just isn't going to cut it. There's always time to become a man.

Oh, darn it. I'll try the book anyway (referring to 3 Musketeers) and see.

can anyone else here recommend books that were "as good" ( i realize how horribly subjective that phrase is) as the Count of Monte Cristo ? just in terms of plot, adventure, characters, etc etc

^^ That's a toughie.
I'd like to see what people end up posting.
I really liked 1984 but I'm not sure if the two are on the same level.
Damn, why am I back on CC? My paws have minds of their own. And antennae.

lmao yes. antenna!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Why no zero in lmao? Let me try it: lma0. What do you think? Does it give it more body like it does l0l?

Yeah I was tempted to do that too l0lz :D

Wow, you're just addicted to that zero. I'll just pass it off as an addiction b/c I think any attempt to read your psyche would just confuse me, it's so complex.
lma0. l0l. y0.

yeah y0, right on the money :p

I'm all 0ver that m0ney. :D

y0u catch 0n qu1ck y0. That b3 1337

5w337. <----?????? (Sweet)

l0oks fine to m3 :D

they hijacked this thread too....

wh0, who!!!!!!!!

Sounds like a good list of books Jason. I'm not sure if someone said this already (I'm sure as hell not going to read this entire thread) but you should also check out The Count of Monte Cristo and Les Miserables. I even think you'll like those two books better than some others that you had in the list (like the last three books you listed, though they are worthy of reading also.)

And about the heavy load thing, I don't think this is a heavy load at all, you should be able to read all of those books in a month AT MOST during the summer. Like I thought the Count of Monte Cristo which is like 1450 pgs would take me a while, but it was a very smooth read and took me 6 days to read (during the finals week too, I never study for school anyways though and you only go to school for like three hrs a day during finals week.)

Is Les Miserables good?
Haha, pretty much everyone said The Count of Monte Cristo. That book is just a man book.
Did we really hijack a lot of threads? (and by we, I mean collegeguy and me)
It was only 2 really (I think....) and the other one was just a random thread. I don't mind being accused of hijacking though but being accused of killing threads upsets me.

^The Count of Monte Cristo really isn't "just a man book." It is actually classified as a romance, and it was written during the Romantic Era. Not only are the sexual relationships romantic but so is the characterization (protagonist is above and beyond life) as well as the setting (Paris, Rome, the beautiful sea, etc.) The book is a masterpiece from the the romantic school of art (as opposed to the school of naturalists--with the grandfather being Shakespeare.) And I'm not trying to be sexist (as you were ;)) because a lot of guys do like romantic things (hey, just look at whose writing this post) but last time I checked, a majority of females love romantic books.

And Les Miserables (also written in the Romantic Era) is--in my opinion--the greatest work Victor Hugo has written. Obviously Victor Hugo is truly legit, and you have to read at least one of his books before you die, and so I recommend this one above all others.

No, no, I didn't mean the word "just" in that way.
I meant just as in--It's a man book so no wonder people are attracted to it. It was sarcasm. Ugh! So hard to explain inflections on the computer!!!!!!!! And I was referring back to my recommendations to my pal collegeguy when I told him to read it b/c it was a man book.
Haha, I'm not being sexist. laughs ridiculously hard at that for a while
So cut the lecture. I'll read Les Mis though.

Oh, my bad. I didn't know you were referring back to collegeguy in that post seeing as that you posted right under my post which recommended Les Miserables. Oh how meaning is lost in translation in this cyberworld of ours!

^Now THAT, my rabbit friend, is sarcasm!

Was it you who CT repeatedly schooled in the ways of cyber sarcasm? Oh and you were just a lad then. How the cyberdays pass so quickly!

I was referring to your post but continuing a joke that was b/w collegeguy and me.
