Hello CC members! My teacher did not finish her recommendation, and I doubt that she will finish it tonight. I don't want to tell her to finish it today because it's her birthday and she's sick :/ I'm applying to Emory, so do you guys (or girls) know anything about late recommendations? I know Northwestern, Notre Dame, and Georgia Tech allows late ones, so does Emory allow late recs too? I called the admissions office for Emory, but apparently they open again on Monday. Any advice?

Your application is considered complete if everything that is your responsibility has been submitted by the deadline. Colleges realize that you can’t control what other people do. However, they may either hold your app for later evaluation or consider your app without the eval and if you don’t want either to happen, you should try to get your teacher to finish as soon as possible.

I was told within a few days (by end of next week?) is okay for anything not in the students’ control, though we rushed some SAT score reports just in case.

So I’d say if she can do it on Monday or Tuesday, it should be okay. The CA folks said “most colleges” accept late school materials if the CA is sent in on time.
